1 Feast of the Holy Family December 26th & 27th 2009 Office PASTORAL CARE OF THE SICK: What do we as a parish do? First: Each Sunday we have extra-ordinary ministers of Holy Communion take communion to all Catholic residents, regardless of parish membership, at Carriage House, Carriage Inn, Villa Royale, and Country Club Manor. The facility sends us a list each week of Catholic residents and then Mr. Macpherson distributes this information to the person responsible that weekend. Second: We have extra-ordinary ministers taking Holy Communion to the home-bound who have requested this visitation and when we have a minister available. Please call Third: Either Fr. Nau or Fr. Moore has Mass on the first Friday at the Carriage House, the second Friday at Carriage Inn, the third Friday at Country Club Manor, and on the fourth Friday one of us takes communion to each Catholic resident at Villa Royale. We have Mass each Friday at 11:30 a.m. at the chapel at Trinity West. Once a month, a Mass is normally scheduled for residents at Trinity East. Fourth: Fr. Nau will normally visit once a month with the homebound who have requested that he bring them communion. We currently have three groupings that Fr. Nau visits. Once you have made such a request ( ), someone from the parish office calls and arranges a time on the day that Fr. Nau is in your part of the town. Fifth: Fr. Mark normally visits the patients in the hospital. However, one of us will try to be there if there is an emergency. We do our best to be there for families who have someone dying. Msgr. George Yontz normally visits the residents who are in jail. If you have a family member in a nursing home facility not listed above, there is a priest from one of our local parishes that has the responsibility to care for all Catholic residents in that facility. For example Msgr. Calovini would normally have Mass at the Laurels. As individual priests we can t be everywhere but the priests of the area are committed to all Catholics having the sacraments available to them. In Trinity Hospital, the Pastoral Care program has regular chaplains and extra-ordinary ministers of Holy Communion to assist in the spiritual life of the patients. Please note that such institutions as ACUITY are separate institutions and do not provide the names of Catholic patients. You must notify us in this situation. Some families never inform us of the pastoral needs of the sick members of their families. However, some children wonder why we never visit their elderly parents when actually we do call and they tell us, No, not today. We call again the next month. If you have a question or concern about the pastoral care of a sick person on homebound, please discuss the matter with Fr. Nau ( ). If it is an emergency situation please follow the promptings on the phone message. Thank you and God bless. ~Fr. Nau NEW YEAR S MASS SCHEDULE: Thursday, Dec. 31 st 4:00 p.m. Holy Name Cathedral Friday, January 1 st 8:30 a.m. Holy Rosary Church SACRAMENTS Sacramental Information and registration forms are available at parish web-site Baptism Baptism Preparation Sessions are held the 1 st Sunday of each month from 2 p.m. 3:30 p.m. in the Marian Room at Holy Rosary Church. 3 West End Adoration Chapel In January 2010 we will celebrate the 13th anniversary of perpetual adoration in our community. The success of this devotion is attributed to you, the true believer in the Real Presence. The coordinators are extremely grateful to the over 150 dedicated adorers who come to this chapel on a weekly basis. There are many adoration chapels, however we can be very proud of the fact that there are few which can claim to be PERPETUAL in their devotion over many years. Recently we have a concern that some of the late night/early morning hours are unattended. These hours are extremely vital in maintaining the perpetual status. Let us pray as one community for newcomers who will experience a revitalization of their faith, feel the comfort and inner peace which only Jesus can provide which gives us the strength to cope with the stress of our everyday lives. During this beautiful Christmas season when we hear the hymn "Come All ye Faithful, Come let us adore Him," let it have true meaning in our lives. If you would like that one-on-one, close personal experience of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament then make the sacrifice to fill these hours: Tuesday 4AM, Wednesday 3AM, Friday 1AM, Saturday 3AM and 5AM. Call Vivian Zlotkowski POLISH HYMN SING: On December 27, 2009 at Holy Family Church 2:00 p.m. a Polish Hymn sing will be held. We will be singing Polish Christmas Carols and other traditional hymns. 5 CONDOLENCES: (CCC 1405) There is no surer pledge or clearer sign of this great hope in the new heavens and new earth in which righteousness dwells, than the Eucharist. Every time this mystery is celebrated, the work of our redemption is carried on and we break the one bread that provides the medicine of immortality, the antidote for death, and the food that makes us live forever in Jesus Christ. With this great hope we pray for our brothers who have died: Richard V. Cosentino, 65, December 5 Albert S. Grossi, 92, December 16. May they enjoy the eternal banquet the Lord has prepared for them.
