We are working on getting all that information into the computer so that we can generate a new, permanent schedule with more accurate information. We apologize for any errors we might have made. And, as always, we thank you for taking responsibility for showing up or calling the office to get a replacement when you are scheduled for service. Thank you. Memorial Donations A couple of our parishes have had the custom of submitting memorial donations. We will continue this practice. If you choose to do this simply put at least a $5 donation in an envelope labeled Memorial. If you put your name and the name of the person you are remembering on the envelope that will be published in the next bulletin. The funds received as memorials will be used only for expenses directly related to the celebration of the Holy Mass. Recap of Upcoming Events The CCHS volleyball program will begin its summer workouts on Tuesday, July 1 from 9:00am to noon in the high school gym. The program is for high school students in grades 9 through 12. For additional information, please contact Coach Vandeborne at kurtvandeborne@yahoo.com or Blood Drive Area blood donations have declined and the Red Cross is working hard to bring them up. So, you are invited to a Media Day Blood Drive at St. Florian Hall, July 1st, from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm. Tie-dye t-shirts will be presented to all donors. Prizes, raffles and special refreshments will be offered as media personalities come and go throughout the day. Adoration Chapel Hours Open Adoration Chapel hours: Tuesdays 7:00am, 12:00pm; Wednesdays 12:00 pm; Saturdays 6:00am. CCHS Band Raffle The band is currently selling raffle tickets for $ of BP Gas cards. Drawing will be held in late October at the Varsity Show. All band parents are selling tickets. See next week s bulletin for names and telephone numbers. Tickets are $5.00 Each. More info to follow. Dear Parishioners of Triumph of the Cross: It has been my honor to serve as your pastor, even if only for a month. However, over the past nine years I have been associated with all but one of our previous parishes. So I got to know and love many of you before these last four weeks as pastor. You are good people, and your faith is strong. I know you will warmly welcome Fr. Tom Nau as he replaces me. I believe I have done the best I could over the past few years. If I have hurt anyone in any way, I am truly sorry. If I have helped anyone in any way, I thank God. As you know, the bishop has assigned me to Harrison County - two small parishes (Cadiz and Hopedale) and one mission (Freeport). If you ever find yourself in Harrison county, I will welcome your visit.

4 Thirteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time When my wife Penny was a young girl first learning to drive, she had quickly developed the habit of looking in both the side mirrors and the rearview mirror almost too frequently. Her driving instructor, who was also her father, finally admonished her by saying "Keep your eyes on the road ahead. Don't worry about where you've been, worry only about where you're going!" Today, she lives that advice, guiding our family ever forward. Today's Gospel reading from Luke reminds us to avoid the human temptation to look back to places and times in our lives where things may have been better, or to wish we were in another person's circumstances who seem to have it better than us. If we have accepted God's promise of the glory of heaven and live our lives with that promise first and foremost in our minds, we will be truly happy and never want for anything. Perpetual Adoration Program Wouldn t you like respite from the pervasive materialism and overwhelming chaos that confronts all of us constantly? There is Someone waiting there for YOU twenty four hours a day, seven days a week ready to comfort, to listen, to guide, and to give unconditional love. Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament is there for YOU. Many people have found that the one extra hour they spend each week in front of the Blessed Sacrament provides them with a special fulfillment that energizes their bodies and nurtures their souls. Those who have been with the Perpetual Adoration program from its inception more than ten years ago could not imagine being without their special time each week. This also shows the spirituality of the communities which sustain three separate perpetual adoration chapels within a small area. There s a special hour for YOU, too, to be with Jesus. So give HIM a try in this extra-special way and He will reward you with his many blessings. Many people have found that that one hour per week provides them with that special fulfillment that enables them to cope with life s many challenges. The sixth petition of the Our Father, "Lead us not into temptation," is an acknowledgement that we may be tempted to move our eyes and hearts from the love of the Lord, but also that we can ask for help in not doing so. (CCC 2848) A popular song reminds us that walking is easy when the road is flat, but God gave us mountains so we could learn to climb. 5 Dear members of Triumph of the Cross Parish, Our journey with the Lord takes on a new meaning for you and me this upcoming weekend, we will be walking together. Thirty years ago I was ordained at Holy Name Cathedral and sent to proclaim Christ to all peoples. Most of my priestly work has been in Lawrence County and now I am being sent to your parish and community. My life as a priest, serving as a religion teacher, principal, assistant pastor and currently pastor has been greatly blessed and enriched by the many people who have shared the life of Christ with me. I am confident that as you and I celebrate the Eucharist weekly and pray daily, our lives will be filled with the joy and hope that He alone gives to our lives through the Holy Spirit. Though I am greatly saddened to be separated from the ones whom I have greatly loved, I am grateful that the Lord calls me to continue serving as His priest to your community. We Catholics have the custom of asking the priest to celebrate Mass for a specific intention, usually a deceased loved one. That will obviously continue. Sharing the fruits (the graces) of the Mass for a departed loved one remains the preferred way of the Church. There was a time when parishioners were asked to use some other memorial like flowers because the parish had too many Masses that could not be satisfied. That is no longer the case. In fact, TOTC will run out of Mass intentions soon if there is not an influx of them. Please feel free to call the office to request a specific date or to get a Mass card.
