3 CONDOLENCES: (CCC 1405) There is no surer pledge or clearer sign of this great hope in the new heavens and new earth in which righteousness dwells, than the Eucharist. Every time this mystery is celebrated, the work of our redemption is carried on and we break the one bread that provides the medicine of immortality, the antidote for death, and the food that makes us live forever in Jesus Christ. With this great hope we pray for our brothers who have died: A. Patrick Stewart, 77, March 23 Thomas J. Frawley, 53, March 27 May they enjoy the eternal banquet the Lord has prepared for them. CATHOLIC ENGAGED ENCOUNTER: Do you know a Couple Getting Married? Why not suggest the Catholic Engaged Encounter? Approved by the Bishop as an alternative pre-cana preparation, the CEE weekend retreat away with other engaged couples will provide plenty of time alone together to plan for a Lifetime Marriage. Start Thinking Vacation Bible School~~~ Dates: April 9, 2011 Sacraments Retreat #2 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 St. Peter Catholic Faith Formation in Steubenville website: Former Planned Parenthood Clinic Director to Speak STEUBENVILLE, OH Abby Johnson, former Planned Parenthood director and author of unplanned, will speak in Finnegan Fieldhouse at Franciscan University of Steubenville on Monday, April 18 at 8:30 p.m. A major new leader in the pro-life movement who will enter the Catholic Church at Easter, Johnson will speak about her transition from an abortion clinic director for Planned Parenthood to a pro-life advocate. Johnson's talk is sponsored by Franciscan University's Students for Life club. "For many years we have been praying outside abortion clinics and Planned Parenthood," said Brother John Paoletti, MIC, club president. "Abby Johnson is a witness that our prayerful presence has a powerful impact on the women who enter and on the employees." Noting that the fruits of Johnson's conversion are abundant in her two years in the pro-life movement, he added, "The pro-life movement is stronger than ever today and much of that has do with the courage of Abby Johnson."Johnson will be received into the Catholic Church five days after her talk at Franciscan University. The event begins with a short pro-life musical performance by Franciscan students. After her talk, Johnson will sign copies of her book, which can be purchased for $20. There is no charge for the event, though donations will be accepted to help defray costs.
