Jesus healed ten lepers. Only one came back to give Him thanks for the miracle of a clean body. Jesus said: "Were not all ten made whole? Where are the other nine?" Every Sunday Jesus performs a far greater miracle for us. The gift of the Holy Eucharist makes us immortal with divine life. Each communion will leave our soul everlastingly more glorious and beautiful in heaven. In spite of the fact that Jesus asks us to give thanks for this great gift by coming back during the week and visiting Him in the Blessed Sacra ment only a very few do. Your sacrifice will make up for the ingratitude of "the other nine," for the many who never think of visiting Him at all. To share in this ministry of giving thanks and giving back to Jesus either by committing to an hour or being a fill-in substitute, call Vivian

3 PARISH NURSE MINISTRY: November is Diabetes month: This article is about "Prediabetes'--Not worth the risk.(caring for Life-Oct./09 UMPC newsletter) Once you have Diabetes, it never goes away. That is why it is so important to avoid getting it. The American Diabetes Association, says, 54 million adults have 'prediabetes.' In less than 10 years, most of these adults will develop Type 2 diabetes-unless they take preventative measures. At the very least, those steps should include: Eating healthier.-choose more fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, along with foods that are low in fat and calories. Getting Active.- Set a goal of 30 minutes per day of moderate activity, such as walking or riding a bike. Losing Weight- Losing a modest amount of weight (5% to 10% of your body weight) through diet and moderate exercise can significantly reduce your risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes. Risk factors for prediabetes: You are overweight or inactive, over 45 or older, have a family history or type 2 diabetes,& are an African American, Hispanic, American Indian, or Asian American. Others are: you developed gestational diabetes when you were pregnant or gave birth to a baby who weighed more than 9 pounds; have polycystic ovarian syndrome, have high blood pressure, have high LDL cholesterol, low HDL cholesterol, or high triglyercides. If you are at risk for prediabetes, call your doctor to talk about scheduling a blood glucose test. Remember Diabetes is a life-long chronic disease. Early in his life, Pope John Paul II made the Total Consecration to Jesus through Mary according to the formula of St. Louis de Montfort. The Roman Catholic Church has encouraged this consecration for seminarians, clergy, religious and all the lay faithful. This consecration is easy, yet is often misunderstood. Thus, we will be offering a short course on this topic beginning in November. All are welcome to attend. Prepare for Advent during this Year of the Priests. SAME Course Offered 5 DIFFERENT WAYS AND THREE different times: All options for the Course are intended to have Consecration or renewal of Consecration set for December 8, Where: Triumph of the Cross, Marian Room Option I Time: Monday 9:15 am Option II Time: Wednesday 1:00 pm Option III time: Monday 7:15 pm Montfort Missionary Rev. 5 CONGRATULATIONS: (CCC 1601) The matrimonial covenant, by which a man and a woman establish between themselves a partnership of the whole of life, is by its nature ordered toward the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of offspring; this covenant between baptized persons has been raised by Christ the Lord to the dignity of a sacrament. Thus it was with great joy that we celebrated the wedding of Todd Banfield and Kelli Klein, November 7. May the Lord continue to bless them and watch over them. CONDOLENCES: (CCC 1405) There is no surer pledge or clearer sign of this great hope in the new heavens and new earth in which righteousness dwells, than the Eucharist. Every time this mystery is celebrated, the work of our redemption is carried on and we break the one bread that provides the medicine of immortality, the antidote for death, and the food that makes us live forever in Jesus Christ. With this great hope we pray for our brother and sisters who have died: Frances M. Antonucci, 88, November 4th. Jacqueline M. Hock, 76, November 4th. Victor V. Caranna, 92, November 8th. May they enjoy the eternal banquet the Lord has prepared for them. There are countries spanning perhaps another quarter of humanity in which it is possible for women to be bribed with the offer of aid to have abortions.
