1 T Third riumph of the Cross Sunday of Advent December 13 & 14, 2008 Office TRIUMPH OF THE CROSS PARISH CENSUS: As you have heard many times in the verbal announcements, we are attempting to update our parish census information. Because different families have different number of pages of information, we could not mail these to the households as a bulk mailing. It would be far too expensive for us to mail each of them first class mail. Therefore we have placed the envelopes at the front entrance of the Holy Rosary Church and Holy Name Cathedral. Also, because of the volume we have been rotating the boxes between the two churches. Please watch carefully for the box that has the first letter of your last name. Take the information home, follow the directions on the enclosed letter and make any necessary corrections. It is extremely important that you return the form to us, even if no corrections are needed. Having the correct census information will assist us in any mailings that we do. There are some families who have registered in other parishes and we need to discontinue sending them parish envelopes. The correct census information is another way that we are trying to maintain expenses. New Year s Eve Dance; sponsored by Triumph of the Cross to benefit The Catholic Youth Program for the City of Steubenville Parishes, especially the bus costs to the Diocesan Youth Rally. The cost is $5.00 per person and includes snacks and drinks. The time is 9:00pm to 1:00am, with a swing dance lesson from 8:30 to 9:00. Location is the undercroft of Holy Name. Chaperones will be present throughout the evening, with some stationed outside to watch youth walking from the parking lot to the door from 8:30 to 9:30 and after midnight. We ll say a Divine Mercy Chaplet to bring in the New Year. Bring your own noise makers. Anyone, who has gone through the diocesan program on the Child Protection Policy, has been fingerprinted, and who would like to volunteer to chaperone, please call Kathy Cutler at RESPECT FOR LIFE: Despite efforts to downplay abortion s roles in its lucrative business, Planned Parenthood has become responsible for nearly a quarter of all abortions performed in the United States. And while the organization advertises itself as nonprofit, its latest annual report shows America s top abortion chain setting records in revenues over a billion dollars. CONDOLENCES: CCC 1030 All who die in God s grace and friendship, but still imperfectly purified, are indeed assured of their eternal salvation; but after death they undergo purification, so as to achieve the holiness necessary to enter the joy of heaven. We offer our prayers for our brothers and sisters so that they may have eternal joy. We pray for their families so that they may not be overcome with grief but find hope in the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Pray for our deceased: Violet Fabian 93, of Steubenville, died Monday December 8, CONGRATULATIONS: Baptisms: CCC 1226 From the very day of Pentecost the Church has celebrated and administered holy Baptism. Indeed St. Peter declares to the crowd astounded by his preaching: Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Thus our parish community continues the great joy of celebrating the sacrament of Baptism. It is with great joy that we welcome into the Christian community: Alexis Nicole Lathem child of James & Ann Marie (Clark) Lathem CISTMAS OUTREACH: Giving tree: These are items that have been requested by residents at our various care centers. Please return these items THIS WEEKEND. Thank you to everyone who brought clothing and food for the Samaritan House. We are very grateful to the many families who brought the toys for the Children. God Bless your generosity. Fr. Nau JANUARY THAW There is no greater way to warm a cold winter evening than by sharing an evening with friends. We will bring to a joyous conclusion our Christmas season with a parish celebration on Saturday, January 10 th. Save the Date - Attention TOTC Parishioners, mark your calendars for Saturday, January 10, :30pm to 8:30pm. The details for this evening which is being organized by parishioners working with the Parish Pastoral Council will be coming soon.

A rosary following the Mass will also be offered for the needs of the high school. For any questions or further information, call Ann Knob at REGISTRATION FORMS FOR YOUTH CONFERENCE: Our Youth Ministry Committee is working to make sure that our youth have the opportunity to register for the Youth Conferences that are held at Franciscan University in the summer of An initial form was in last week s bulletin. If you missed this opportunity additional copies should be at the main entrance of the church. O! Come let us adore HIM... Adorers, you have been faithfully making your private Holy Hour before the Blessed Sacrament. You have experienced His love, His silent understanding, His mercy, and you have felt blessed. You are encouraged to convey this life-enriching experience with the members of your family, with your friends and acquaintances. Ask them to fill in for you when you cannot keep your hour of adoration. Many adorers will be going south for much of the winter season. This leaves a void in our "perpetual" schedule that we desperately need to fill for the winter months. Perhaps you can encourage somebody to develope a deeper relationship with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. This is the best Christmas Gift you could ever give them. CISTMAS CONCERT: The CCHS Concert Band, Show Choir and Steel Drum Band will hold their Christmas Concert on Thursday, December 18th at 7:00 in Lanman Hall. Tickets are adults $4, seniors $3, student $2, and $12 maximum for immediate family - (Mom/Dad and children). Please come out and enjoy the sounds of the season. There are still a few bottles that have not been returned but I could not wait to thank you for your tremendous generosity towards this ministry and all we serve. Your total so far is $1, It is hard to express the gratitude I feel for your encouragement and support. All of our material assistance and educational programs depend on the generosity of others. Your love and concern will make a difference in the lives of the young women and children we serve. We deeply appreciate your partnership in this ministry of love and hope. May God bless each of you abundantly especially now in this most Blessed Christmas Season. Please keep us in your prayers as you are in ours. Sincerely in Christ, Sharon Maedke, Director. Please remember to be informed, to pray and assist according to your treasures.
