1 Cold and Flu season -- During this time of year many illnesses are easily passed from one person to another by contact. I remind you that during The Sign of Peace, you are not required to shake the hands of people around you. Please simply turn to them and say, The peace of Christ be with you. Please use the entire phrase and not simply, Peace. Also as you come and go from church, you are not required to shake the hand of the priest. As I shake various hands I am concerned about what I will be passing from one person to another. You are most welcome to extend a verbal greeting. I do consider it a sign of respect for the priesthood of Jesus Christ when people stay until the end of Mass and extend a greeting to the priest as you are leaving the church. When Communion is being distributed under both forms, adults you make a choice whether or not you will receive from the cup. Please direct your children not to receive from the cup if they are showing any signs of illness. Make responsible decisions about your health and the health of others. End-of-the Year Financial Statements: It is necessary for us to receive different reports to prepare these statements. It is our intention to have them mailed to you during the first week of February. After you have received your statement in the mail, please contact the Parish Office if there are any questions or concerns about the information. We will not be able to provide you with statements prior to that date so please don t call and ask. Mass will follow at 6:30 P.M. Little Flowers Girls Club: At the masses on the weekend of the 22nd and 23rd, girls from the Little Flowers Girls Club will be placing flowers in a vase at the altar. This is to show their love for God as St. Agnes herself demonstrated in her life. We chose this weekend because it follows the feast day of St. Agnes. PICTORIAL DIRECTORY: In our directory we would like to place pictures of the various liturgical ministers of our parish community. As to enable as many to participate as possible we will take the pictures after each of the Masses. The five groups we are inviting to participate at this time are: altar servers; readers; extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion (at Mass, Nursing Homes, and homebound); ushers and musicians. On the weekend of January 15/16 Macie will be present at each Mass (Sat. 4:00 p.m. and Sun. 10:30 a.m.) at Holy Name Cathedral. 2 SENIOR HIGH YOUTH MINISTRY IN STEUBENVILLE: January 14 - Silver Ring Thing" in Pittsburgh, PA at Seton LaSalle High School. This night is a high-energy, multimedia presentation on love, purity, chastity and why waiting until marriage is God's perfect plan. The cost for this event is $8 if you turn in money by January 1. You can also pay at the door but the cost is $10. If you are interested in attending this powerful evening on truth, love, and the beauty of God's plan, RSVP by calling or ing John Beaulieu. January 16 - First Anchor night of the new year. January 23 - No Youth Group because of the March for Life. January March for Life, Washington D.C. - CCHS is sending two busloads of students to Washington D.C. to support the cause of life. GS the Communion & Liberation group for high school students, meets on Sundays, from 7:30-8:45pm, in the school building at St. Peter's. For the remainder of January, we will finish our work on Fr. Luigi Giussani's book Is it Possible to Live This Way? Vol. 3: Charity; then we will turn to Giussani's book The Religious Sense. Magary offer specific Mass intentions. We need several Mass intentions for them to offer at the Masses in which they concelebrate in our parish community. Praying for the deceased is a holy and righteous act. We continue to pray for our loved ones as we seek their prayers in our lives. Praying for special needs is also a part of our Catholic Tradition.
