1 Baptism of the Lord January 10th & 11th, 2009 Office National Vocation Awareness Week: Today we celebrate the feast of the Baptism of the Lord. This week is National Vocation Awareness Week, a special time in which the Church prays for the renewal and strengthening of vocations of dedicated people as married and single people, men to serve as priest, deacons, brothers, and women as religious sisters. Prayer for Vocations Gracious God, You gift us with your son, Jesus. At his baptism you affirmed him as your beloved son and Jesus responded by proclaiming the Good News about your reign. Help us realize that by our baptism we are each called to continue the mission of Jesus by proclaiming the Good News You call people to married life. Bless them with love, understanding, and fidelity You call people to the single life. Bless them with compassion, joy, and dedication You call people to the consecrated life. Bless them with courage, commitment, and passion You call people to the ordained life. Bless them with faith, integrity, and zeal as they proclaim the Good News. May we accept and acknowledge the dignity of our vocation. Guide those discerning your call and give them the support they need. Gift us all with open and generous hearts to further your reign here on Earth. With gratitude we offer this prayer through Jesus and the Spirit. Amen. 2008NCCV vocations.org CENSUS FORMS: Have you picked up your census form at the entrance of the church? We have about 1000 families who are suppose to be registered at Triumph of the Cross but have not yet picked up their forms. If someone has moved to another parish, please ask them to call us and provide us with that information. Maybe you looked at your form and said, I can t remember the date of my baptism, first communion, or confirmation. That is okay. Do you remember the church? Just provide us with that information. Having your name, correct address, telephone number, and which sacraments you have received are more important than the actual dates. We can always find the dates if we know the church. If there are any problems, please contact us we will work through them. We are most grateful for the census forms we have received. This is proving to be very helpful. SACRAMENTS Sacramental Information and registration forms are available at parish web-site Baptism Pre-baptism class for parents required. Classes are 1st Sun of month at Marian Room Talk with the priest to schedule baptism date. Weddings Six month preparation required. Schedule the date with the priest. Funerals Please schedule with the priest before publishing dates and times. Anointing of the Sick Please call the Parish Office. Communion to the Homebound Please call the Parish Office. CONDOLENCES: (CCC 989) We firmly believe, and hence we hope that, just as Christ is truly risen from the dead the righteous will live for ever with the risen Christ and he will raise them up on the last day. Thus we entrust into the hands of our loving Father all of our beloved dead but especially: Stephen A.
