1 Twenty-Sixth Sunday of Ordinary Time September 26th & 27th, 2009 Office Attention: Those who would like to become involved in the parish ministry for the homebound and Nursing Homes as EXTRA-ORDINARY MINISTERS OF HOLY COMMUNION will have a training session on Monday evening, October 12 at 7:30 p.m. at Holy Rosary Church. This is immediately after Mass and Novena. Please register for this training by submitting your name to the parish office staff if you have not already done so. We already have some volunteers but remain in need of others. Remember a volunteer is someone who gives of themselves and does not wait to be asked. May the Lord guide you in your service to the parish. ~Fr. Nau PRO-LIFE YOUTH CONGRESS REGION IV Attention all High School students. You are invited to come and learn what you can do to defeat abortion and build a Culture of Life. What: The Kick-off meeting for the Pro-Life Youth Congress (PLYC) in this area will be taking place. The PLYC is a group of teens who strive to educate the teens of America on the topics of leadership, abstinence / purity, and Pro-Life beliefs regarding topics of abortion, euthanasia, and stem cell research. The meeting will introduce you to the PLYC and there will be free pizza. Where: In Malara Hall at Holy Family Church in Steub. Ohio When: Tuesday, September 29 th from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Why: We need you! In such a fight, every person is invaluable. The PLYC is important because it focuses on uniting the youth to defeat abortion. Lots of high-school ers say they are pro-life, but don t do anything about it. The PLYC gives them the opportunity to take action and learn how to become leaders in the Pro-Life movement. With one million, five hundred thousand abortions being performed each year in the USA, we need people who are willing to take a stand for life. Who: If you are interested in coming, or want to find out more about the PLYC, send a to Nathan Coleman at nathan@prolifeyouthcongress.com or Elizabeth Wherry at or beth.wherry@sbcglobal.net. You can help in many ways. First pray prayers are something no one can do without. 2nd encourage a teenager to participate. RESPECT LIFE SUNDAY: OCTOBER 4TH, Nationwide, on the first Sunday of October people form a human-life chain lining city streets holding pro-life signs. Locally, from 2 to 3pm citizens of Steubenville stand on Sunset Boulevard extending west through Wintersville. If you are pro-life, will you please take part? Signs will be available at both sites of Triumph of the Cross Parish. If for some reason you are unable to stand for one hour, then pray during this time for an end to abortion. If you have questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Office of Worship at ~Msgr. Kemo D/PSC REPORT: We are almost there. When we have received $1, in payments towards the pledges we will have achieved our target goal of $88, Our pledges now amount to $100, This amount was pledged by 339 households in our parish. Remember that we have 121 households who were unable to make a financial contribution but pledged to pray for our parish community. That means we have 460 households in our parish striving to support our parish in this endeavor. We are grateful for the Lord s many blessings through each of you. ~Fr. Nau

3 Triumph of the Cross Parish Nurse Ministry: Walking and its Benefits: Walking, and benefits of regular exercise, have helped people feel stronger and more flexible. One is better equipped to cope with stress and generally live a healthier lifestyle. Walking and exercise can reduce heart disease, colon cancer, diabetes, reduce elevated blood pressure and cholesterol levels, relieve pain and ease joint mobility in osteoarthritis, reduce depression, stress and anxiety. When one considers all these wonderful benefits, get registered, and bring your family and friends and join the "Walk for Life", sponsored by the AIM Women's Center on Saturday, October 9:30am, from Catholic Central High School.
