3 Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, I want to report to you the October count that was done for this year and looking back to last year to compare. The numbers show that we need to pray for those who do not attend Mass and call upon The Holy Spirit to help with our evangelization efforts. Please pray for us and all who will be traveling for this biannual gathering of Catholic youth. I want to thank the parishioners who have helped with financial contributions to our youth. We will pray for you during our time away. I want to thank Father Medil who will take care of the partner parishes during this time. Finally, let us continue to pray for the 26 people who were killed and those who were injured in the attack on the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, TX on November 5. May God grant them eternal peace and give consolation to their families and that faith community. 5 St. Mary, Mother of God Parish News Angel Giving Tree Mother Mary's Table Mother Mary's Table will be serving soup and fellowship on Monday, November 13, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. followed by bible study from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. If you know someone who lives alone and would appreciate having soup delivered to their home, call Janet Hellgren at Please join us for an evening of food and fellowship. All are welcome! Once again this year, the Good Samaritan Ministry is sponsoring an Angel Giving Tree in cooperation with Armstrong County Children & Youth. A tree with special tags will be located in the narthex of the Church on the weekends of November 12 & 19. Gifts purchased to fulfill the wishes of needy families in our community must be delivered to the church by December 3. While gifts are not to be wrapped, wrapping paper, ribbon, tape, and gift bags may also be donated. The Giving Tree is one of our most successful campaigns of the year, and the heartfelt generosity of our parish family is always an amazing thing to witness. Shannock Valley Food Patry The next Choir Rehearsal will be held on Thursday, November 16, at 7:00 p.m. For the month of November, the Shannock Valley Food Pantry is asking for donations of cranberry sauce. Your donations can be placed in the narthex of the church. Thank you for your generosity. The Knitting Group will meet on Monday, November 13, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. in the Sacred Heart Room. YOUTH MINISTRY NIGHT Youth in Grades 6-12 Sunday, November 19 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. St. Anne Hall, The November session will follow a lesson plan developed by the Diocese of Greensburg guided by Bishop Malesic s letter on the drug abuse crisis. This meeting will perhaps differ from other presentations in which you have participated. In addition to addressing the dangers, we will explore the Church s teaching on drugs and alcohol and discuss our Christian responsibility to resist the temptation. As in all aspects of our life, we will be reminded of the fact that prayer is essential. The evening will begin in fellowship with dinner in St. Anne Hall. Youth are not required to be registered in Faith Formation Class to attend. Sunday morning Faith Formation Class for grades 6-12 will not be held on November 19.

Collection for the Diocesan Poverty Relief Fund & Catholic Relief Services Takes Place Next Weekend Catholic Relief Services is the official international humanitarian agency of the Catholic community in the United States. In our diocese, CRS Collection is paired with the Diocesan Poverty Relief Fund (DPRF) Collection. Because of the increased local need, 3/4 of the contributions to this combined collection will remain in the diocese to support DPRF, which will add to its assistance efforts for people in need in the communities of the diocese s four counties. It also assures parishioners who make generous contributions to this combined collection that they are helping their neighbors right here in southwestern PA. Thank you for your generosity! St. Nicholas Night at Divine Redeemer School We are in the process of planning our St. Nicholas event on Wednesday, December 6, in the school hall.
