If we are really unfamiliar with the space, anxiety, uncertainty, disorientation, and even fear can easily arise. Once we find the light, all is illuminated and we are at peace. Our light has come into the world! The glory of God has been revealed! Today's feast of the Epiphany teaches us to look to our Savior, Jesus Christ, for the way to truly be the human beings we were created to be. He shows us how to prioritize our lives, order our relationships, care for creation, and live as daughters and sons of God. God's love and creative power is universal, transcending all races and nations. Jesus brings the light of peace to a broken world that still struggles to understand itself and to you and I who also struggle to understand who we are. May we find ourselves overjoyed that we have found our truth and allow Jesus to bring light to the darkness of our lives! 3 Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, We continue to enjoy the joyful season of Christmas now turning to The Solemnity of The Epiphany of Our Lord. This feast takes place to remember when The Maji visit Jesus and He is revealed to all the nations, especially to the Gentiles. The Maji brought gifts to The Lord and it is a reminder that all of us are called to give to God and His people in love. On Sunday in, we have our Children and Family Mass with our young people ministering and then our faith formation students performing The Epiphany story for all to enjoy. Thanks to all who are helping on this wonderful day. I wanted to let you know that all of our Masses for Christmas were very well attended. Father Victor and I want to thank those who attended and helped to make this a great start to this beautiful season. Finally, we are into another new year. None of us knows what will happen in I hope and pray that as partner parishes, we can continue to serve The Lord in love and do our best to serve our brothers and sisters in building up the kingdom. The way this can be done is in prayer. Take the time to pray and ask God for assistance in doing His work. Father Doug 2019 SANCTUARY CANDLE & TABERNACLE CANDLE INTENTIONS If you would like to remember a deceased loved one, have a special anniversary or a special intention, or you would like to honor someone, you can sponsor the Sanctuary Candle in or Tabernacle Candle in. These candles burn for one week and the offering is $20. The candle intention is published in our bulletin weekly. 4 St. Mary, Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish News Plan now on Helping Us Take Down and Store Christmas Decorations on Tuesday, January 15 Catholic Daughters January Meeting The Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Patricia #998, will be meeting on Tuesday, January 15, at 7 p.m. at St. Mary Parish Hall. We will start with the rosary at 6:45 p.m. Please bring soup labels and box tops for Divine Redeemer School. Social chairman is Mary Ann Badura. We hope all our members will come in from the cold and enjoy great fellowship. New members are always welcome! Did You Win a Theme Basket at the Holly Berry Fair? If you won a theme basket and you have no use for the wicker basket, consider donating it for our next Holly Berry Theme Basket Raffle. Simply leave the basket in the back of the church or bring it to the parish office during the week. Your help will be needed to take down and store our Christmas decorations on Tuesday morning, January 15. We will begin at and work throughout the morning. You may join us any time, as your schedule permits. Your help will be very much appreciated! 2019 Catholic Daughters of the Americas National Education Contest All students grades 4-12, are eligible to participate in the annual education contest. Please make sure you pick a box for your child or teen. Children and Family Mass Epiphany Play and Fellowship Attention: Liturgical Ministers of St. Mary, Mother of God Parish A new Liturgical Minister Schedule will soon be prepared. Communion Calls The homebound parishioners of St. Mary, Mother of God, will be visited on Tuesday, January 8. If you know of anyone who should be included in these monthly visits, please contact the parish office. The Epiphany of Our Lord This Sunday, January 6 11:00 a.m. Mass The children and youth of St. Mary, Mother of God, invite you to gather as a family for a special morning of prayer and fellowship on this great day of celebration. The Pastoral Council of St. Mary, Mother of God Parish will meet on Tuesday, January 8, at 6:30 p.m. in the Sacred Heart Room. Mother Mary's Table The 11:00 Mass will be youth-led, with students serving as lectors, greeters, ushers and altar servers. Immediately following Mass the children of our parish will present a play in honor of the day Christ made Himself known to the world. Mother Mary's Table will be serving soup and fellowship on Monday, January 14, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. If you know someone who lives alone and would appreciate having soup delivered to their home, call Janet Hellgren at Please join us for an evening of food and fellowship. St. Mary, Mother of God Faith Formation Please join us in this celebration of the Light of Christ present in our families and in our world Children and Youth Offertory Envelopes Offertory envelopes were recently distributed to the students in Faith Formation Classes. Additional boxed envelopes for children and youth not enrolled in the Faith Formation Program are available on the narthex table. Sock Drive St. Mary, Mother of God Faith Formation Classes are collecting NEW socks of all sizes through January 31st. The socks will be distributed to the needy of our community at the February Mother Mary s Table. Any remaining socks will be donated to local charitable organizations.
