We hear God say, "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him." Because of our baptism, we share in the same intimate relationship with the Father that Jesus has. This intimate relationship we have with God can transform us, just as it transformed Jesus. 3 August 6, 2017 Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, In, the Fort Armstrong Festival is in progress. I want to welcome all of those who are visiting us for Mass this weekend and taking time to experience the festival. Enjoy the delicious apple dumplings, some good Bingo and another fun time in the county seat. Don't miss the Bingo, especially on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. I will be the caller for the first time and I am looking forward to it. In, this weekend is the last chance to sign up for the parish picnic on Saturday, August 12. After Mass, from 7 to 10 p.m., the community street fair will take place. I will be the caller for the paper Bingo that will begin at 8 p.m. I look forward to seeing you there for a night of fun. In both parishes, it is essential to have the parishioners be a part of both of these events. I want to thank everyone who is involved and for the good stewardship that you are giving to the parishes. May God bless you for it. On Tuesday, August 8, Bishop Malesic will come to St. Mary, Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish for the drug education and prayer service at 7 p.m. It will begin in St. Mary Parish Hall. I hope you will be able to attend and invite anyone to come and pray that God will be with us in this difficult time dealing with the opioid epidemic in our diocese. In a week, the Church will celebrate the Solemnity of The Assumption of The Blessed Virgin Mary on Tuesday, August 15. This is a holy day of obligation for all Catholics and it is also the patronal feast day for the Diocese of Greensburg. This Marian feast day recalls how Mary, our Mother, was taken up into heaven to reign forever as our queen. Father Doug Make Sure to Join Us for Drug Education and Prayer Service Evening with Bishop Malesic Addressing the Opioid Epidemic in Our Region Tuesday, August 8 at 7:00 p.m. St. Mary Parish Hall, Open to the public. There will be an educational presentation about the opioid epidemic in our region, a question-and-answer session and a prayer service led by Bishop Malesic. The evening will conclude with light reception. Please read the pastoral letter at As Bishop Malesic stated in his Pastoral Letter on the Drug Abuse Crisis: From Death and Despair to Life and Hope, This is a plague that has come into the homes and families of every city, town, and even the rural areas of our diocese. It has touched the very hearts and souls of our parishioners in the pews and the people living in our communities; it has affected men and women of every age, profession and state of life. In the face of a crisis our Christian faith compels us to choose hope, Bishop Malesic writes. Dr. Paul Niemiec, director of counseling for Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Greensburg, will lead the educational component of the session, which will include a presentation about the facts of the crisis, a discussion and questions.

Your donations can be placed in the narthex of the church. Thank you for your generosity. Our Communities "Helping Hands" Organization is asking for donations of used/unused large size suitcases/ luggage. These are used for storage of clothing from season to season.
