These are words that can be heard on the lips of anyone struggling with faith. Perhaps, they are heard on yours. Physical tests will reveal no difference. The difference is seen through faith. In one sense, it is simple. Either we believe that the risen Christ is present -- soul and divinity -- or we do not. The fruits of faith are the proof. In the Eucharist, God enters into the very depths of who we are. However, it is our choice whether we ignore what He does or act fully upon it. The Eucharist can change us. When people see that we are different, they in turn will themselves believe. Please remember in your prayers the soul of parishioner Larry Crawford, who passed away last week. May God grant him eternal rest and peace. The Sanctuary Candle in is burning his week in memory of Donald & Rosalie Rocco by Son, Larry & Wife and Children. The Tabernacle Candle in is burning this week for Birthday Blessings to Della Bellotti on 92 years of showing us God s love through her faithfulness by Mary Ann Honkus. Faith Formation Registration Faith Formation registration packets have been mailed out this week to all families with children in our partner parishes attending public or private (non-catholic) schools. Watch for yours in the mail. If your child falls into this category and you will not receive the registration information soon, please contact the parish office in or. Parents or guardians, please take time to read the important information sent to you and register your children for this important Faith Formation program.

3 Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Mr. Thomas Dinga has been named the new principal of Divine Redeemer School and I firmly believe that he has the "skills and gifts that the school needs." I welcome him and ask that you keep him in your prayers as he begins his new post. He had spent 34 years as a principal and teacher in the Armstrong School District before retiring in He is a member of Christ, Prince of Peace Parish, Ford City and lives in Manor Township with his wife, Jackie. His children are Father Eric J. Dinga, the parochial vicar at Mother of Sorrows Parish, Murrysville; Tara and Troy. If you would like to speak with Tom about registering your child for the new academic year, call him at In, Parker Bowser has accepted the call to be an altar server. I thank him for his willingness to serve the parish community. At both parishes, we are always looking for more parishioners to serve as altar servers and in other liturgical ministries. If you are interested, let me know. In, the Second Community Street Fair was blessed by great weather and many people attending and helping out. I want to thank everyone for their assistance and working together so that this was a success. When the bills are accounted for, then I will report the financial report in a future bulletin. We are moving through August very quickly and I wanted to draw your attention to a couple of important dates in September to add to your calendar. On Sunday, September 16, St. Mary, Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish will have our parish picnic from 1 to 4 p.m. in our St. Mary Parish Hall. Don't forget to get your Summer Bonanza Raffle tickets into the office for the chance to win $1,000 in cash prizes that will be drawn at the picnic. Also, on Saturday, September 22, we will have our annual parish retreat with Matthew Leonard. It will be held from 8 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. in St. Mary Parish Hall,. More details to come! ANOINTING MASS Wednesday, August 22, at 12 Noon St. Mary, Our Lady of Guadalupe Church On Wednesday, August 22, at 12 Noon, we will be offering the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick in the context of the celebration of Mass. During Anointing Mass, the sacrament of the anointing of the sick will be offered to those in need. A complimentary luncheon sponsored by the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Patricia #998 will follow the Anointing Mass in St. Mary Parish Hall for you and your family or friends. Please join us as we celebrate God s healing presence and the graces received from this sacrament. The Recipients of the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick May Be: Those whose health is seriously impaired by sickness or advanced age. Those who are about to undergo surgery because of a serious illness. Those who are elderly and weakened by age, even if there is no serious illness. Sick children who are mature enough to be comforted by it.

Sincere thanks to all who organized, volunteered and donated towards making this event a success! The Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court St. Francis #1726 will have a meeting on Wednesday, August 29, at 6:30 p.m. in St. Mary/St. Gabriel Hall for planning of the upcoming Salad Bar on September 26. A wonderful evening of great food, fun and fellowship was shared by parishioners and community members! Shannock Valley Food Pantry For the month of August, the Shannock Valley Food Pantry is asking for donations of canned fruit. Your donations can be placed in the narthex of the church. Items will be collected from our church on the last Saturday of the month. Thank you for your generosity! Are you or someone you know interested in becoming Catholic? RCIA, the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, is a program of preparation for adults seeking to enter the Catholic Church through the Sacrament of Baptism or are seeking to complete their Christian Initiation through the Sacraments of Confirmation and Holy Communion. Who is this program for? 1. Those who have never been baptized, who wish to become Catholic. 2. Those who have been baptized in a protestant church, who wish to become Catholic and receive the Sacraments of Confirmation and Holy Eucharist. 3. Those who have been baptized Catholic, but never made the sacraments of Confirmation and/or Holy Communion and are ready to practice their faith.
