A gentle breeze felt on our face or watching a tree swaying or swirling snowflakes all prove the existence of "something" causing these things to happen. But, apart from its effects, we cannot see the origin or substance of wind. The Holy Spirit is the wind of God. Watching an early Church emerge, people coming to believe, disciples of Jesus change the way they live and conduct their affairs-all give witness to the presence of the Holy Spirit. Observing the courage and conviction of those who have found faith, working for justice, feeding the poor, seeing how wounds are healed-all point to something greater than ourselves working and living among us. How do our lives give witness to the Spirit? Faith Formation sessions for our young parishioners in our partner parishes concluded last weekend on Sunday, May 13. Our sincere thank you to all of our dedicated catechists and catechist aides who assisted them this school year for the job well done and thank you to all the families who so faithfully participated this school year. 3 May 20, 2018 Happy Birthday! This weekend we end the Easter season with the Solemnity of Pentecost. We remember The Holy Spirit coming upon Mary and the Apostles to begin the early Church and now call upon The Holy Spirit, Our Advocate, to help us build up The Body of Christ now. Come, O Holy Spirit, Come! Congratulations to our parishioners in for making the parish goal in the Diocesan Lenten Appeal. We have reached $60,020, which takes us over our goal of $60,000. This is wonderful news to share and celebrate with you. In, the parishioners continue to give and we are now at $31,982, which is $3,982 over the parish goal. We are starting to wrap up the DLA and I ask that if you have not made a gift, each dollar will stay in the parish. Thanks be to God that both parishes have had a great DLA! The faith formation for the school year has ended. I want to thank Jim Gaggini and Bonnie Frailey, our faith formation coordinators, for their leadership and for the catechists and aides who help each week. In, we will now take the summer break from Children's Liturgy of the Word. Thanks to all who give their time and talent to this ministry. Now, we continue to prepare for our Vacation Bible School opportunities in our partner parishes. Look for more information in this bulletin and how you can be involved in this exciting ministry and participate! This year's Mother-Daughter banquet in was a success. I want to thank the Catholic Men's Fellowship for their work in having this for our partner parishes. It was great to attend this year and enjoy the evening since Father Tyler Bandura, episcopal master of ceremonies and vocations director, was able to celebrate the Vigil Mass in. 4 May 20, 2018 St. Mary, Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish News Mass and Communion Breakfast Honoring High School Graduates On Sunday, June 3, at our Mass, we will honor High School graduates from St. Mary, Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish. Communion Breakfast for them and their immediate family members will follow in St. Mary Parish Hall. This event is sponsored by our parish, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Patricia #998 and Knights of Columbus, Council #1011. Invitations have been mailed, however, if you are a senior of our parish and did not receive an invitation, please contact St. Mary Parish Office at as soon as possible. Please return your reservation by Wednesday, May 23. What do I do at Eucharistic Adoration? Come and spend some time with the Lord. For 10 minutes or 3 hours - it s up to you. Sit in the silence. Talk to the Lord. Listen. Adore Him. Pray. Feel His love for you. Feel His presence. Bring your bible or a spiritual book. Meditate on the readings. You are welcome to attend, whether it is your 1st or 500th time. Eucharistic Adoration is on Mondays from 3 to 7 p.m. Please attend and know the peace that the Lord can give you. 5 May 20, 2018 St. Mary, Mother of God Parish News Graduate Recognition Mass & Brunch High School graduates of St. Mary, Mother of God Parish will be recognized on Sunday, June 3, during the 11:00 a.m. Mass. Brunch provided by the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court St. Francis #1726, will be served for graduates and their families at 9:30 a.m. in St. Ann Hall. Invitations have been mailed. If you did not receive an invitation, please contact the parish office at as soon as possible. Reservations for both the brunch and Mass are requested by Wednesday, May 23. CD of A, Court St. Francis Meeting The CD of A, Court St. Francis #1726 will hold its meeting on Wednesday, May 23, at 7:00 p.m. in St. Mary/St. Gabriel Hall. Memorial Day Mass at Saint Mary Cemetery, Mass on Memorial Day will be celebrated at Saint Mary Cemetery on Monday, May 28 at Plan now to join us for this Mass on Memorial Day to pray for those who have served our country and for our deceased loved ones. On Memorial Day, May 28, the American Legion, Post #523 will have a service at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Cemetery following the Mass; 10:30 a.m. at Rural Valley Cemetery and at 11:00 a.m.at the War Memorial. St. Mary, Mother of God Parish 2018 VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL June 18 - June 22 Vacation Bible School will be held Monday, June 18 through Friday, June 22 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. for children entering Pre-K (Age 4) through Grade 6 for the school year. The program theme is Power Lab - Discovering Jesus Miraculous Power. Registration forms are available on the table in the narthex or at the parish office. Support the Collection for the Catholic Communication Campaign The Catholic Communication Campaign (CCC) collection will be taken at Masses this weekend. Half of the proceeds from this collection stays in the diocese to support our local communications efforts, including The Catholic Accent newspaper, diocesan website and other social media platforms.
