Life is constantly changing. While this can be exciting on one hand, change also presents challenges. We live in an age of relativism where people can pick and choose the truths that suit them and build their own system of beliefs. While humans certainly have the freedom to choose, losing sight of long-standing universal truths is not such a healthy course. Jesus Christ our King is our universal truth! He is the God who is nonnegotiable, our non-option! In Christ, we know what truth is. He alone points us to God, our true selves, our proper relationships with one another, and the world in which we live. Christ directs us to the poor and vulnerable and teaches us what God's kingdom is meant to be. Christ is the king who serves others. He gets dirty. He ascends the throne of the cross. We are called to do the same. Please remember in your prayers the soul of Father Micah Kozoil, retired priest of Diocese of Greensburg, who passed away last week. May God grant him eternal rest and peace. The Sanctuary Candle in is burning this week in memory of Nick & Livia Dorazio by Rozanne, Carole, Nick, Vic & Sid. Please remember that all Mass intentions for next year must be scheduled in writing using the 2019 Mass Intention Request Form. Additional forms are available in the churches and the Parish Offices in and during regular business hours. The form along with the stipend may be returned via collection basket or mail by December 2.

3 Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Each year, there is a statistical report that is required to be submitted to the diocese by all of the parishes. It is gathered to help with future planning and to see what is currently going on in the parish pertaining to the sacramental life. I want to share with you the key information for our partner parishes. St. Mary, Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, 741 registered households 1,763 registered individuals Total number of funerals for parishioners - 21 Non-Parishioners - 9 Total number of infant baptisms - 15 Total number of weddings - 8 Total number of monthly Communion Calls - 55 St. Mary, Mother of God Parish, 340 registered households 846 registered individuals Total number of funerals for parishioners - 13 Non-Parishioners - 12 Total numbers of infant baptisms - 2 Total number of weddings - 2 Total number of monthly Communion Calls - 15 In our partner parishes combined, we have a total of 1,081 households and 2,609 parishioners. As we celebrate the end of the liturgical year with The Solemnity of Jesus Christ, King of The Universe, may we thank God for this year and all the blessings that have come in our partner parishes. We will begin the new liturgical year with the First Sunday of Advent on December 1. Pick up a copy of the "Watch for the Lord", Advent reflection book in the narthex of both parishes with great insights from Pope Francis, St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta and Father Henri Nouwen. I want to invite everyone to the Holly Berry Fair on December 1 at the St. Mary Parish Hall in. I hope to see you there getting ready for Christmas and enjoying a fun filled day with family and friends. Finally, as part of our focus on Sunday Eucharist in our anniversary year, Monsignor Roger A. Statnick will be coming to on Wednesday, December 5 for a special 6 p.m. Mass. This is in place of the usual 7 p.m. Mass. After Mass, everyone is invited to his presentation on Sunday Eucharist, especially those who assist at our partner parishes with distributing Eucharist. 5 St. Mary, Mother of God Parish News Angel Giving Tree Once again this year, the Good Samaritan Ministry is sponsoring an Angel Giving Tree in cooperation with Armstrong County Children & Youth. A tree with special tags is located in the narthex of the church. Gifts purchased to fulfill the wishes of needy families in our community must be delivered to the church by December 2. While gifts are not to be wrapped, wrapping paper, ribbon, tape, and gift bags may also be donated. The Giving Tree is one of our most successful campaigns of the year, and the heartfelt generosity of our parish family is always an amazing thing to witness. We would like to thank our Parish family for your generous support of our recent coat drive. With your help we were able to Thank You collect approximately 125 coats during the month of October. On Monday, November 12th, the coats as well as a variety of hats, scarves, and gloves were distributed during Mother Mary s Table. The remaining coats were donated to HAVIN and Mechling-Shakley Veterans Center. Thank you for enabling us to serve God through serving others, St Mary, Mother of God, Youth Ministry Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love. St. Nicholas will also be in the Ford City park gazebo from 3 to 5 p.m. Angel Memorial Tree Angel ornaments, to be hung on the Angel Memorial Tree, will once again be sold during Advent. The handmade angels can be purchased for $5 each "in memory of" or "in honor of" a loved one. They will be sold in the church narthex before Masses on the weekends of November 24 & 25, December 1 & 2, and December 8 & 9. The Angels will decorate the narthex Christmas tree over the holidays and can be taken home when the season is over. The Angel Memorial Tree is sponsored by the Good Samaritan Ministry, and all proceeds will be used to help those in need within our parish. CD of A, Court St. Francis Meeting The CD of A, Court St. Francis #1726 will meet on Wednesday, November 28, at 7:00 p.m. in St. Mary/St. Gabriel Hall. Please note there will be no meeting in December. Associates of Mary Meeting The Associates of Mary will hold their meeting on Thursday, November 29, after the 8:30 a.m. Mass in the Sacred Heart Room. New topics will be discussed.
