For at the moment the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the infant in my womb leaped for you. - Luke 1:43-44 When Elizabeth was visited by Mary, her joy was overwhelming. Elizabeth recognized that Mary was carrying inside her the Messiah. She was honored to receive Mary, not just because of who Mary was herself, but also because of the One she had inside her. We meet people every day in our lives. Some we know well, some are acquaintances, and others we may have never seen before. Yet all of them are made in the image of God and carry within them the person of Jesus. If we considered this more frequently, would we act more graciously toward each other? Mary gave birth to the Son of God so that we might be able to be adopted sons and daughters of God. If we thought of this more often, would we be so quick to dismiss someone or ignore him or her? This time of year is filled with gatherings and parties for many of us. We also find ourselves rushing about getting ready for Christmas. There are so many people who cross our paths. Will we allow the Jesus in us to greet with joy the Jesus in them? Will we pause to offer a greeting or kind word? Instead of looking at them with human eyes, will we try to see them through the eyes of faith like Elizabeth. If not, what is all of this celebration and preparation about anyway? The Sanctuary Candle in is burning this week in Birthday Remembrance of Sarah Colo by Son, Jeff Colo & Family. The Tabernacle Candle in is burning this week in memory of Charles & Mary Muff and Deceased Children of the Muff Family by Mary Ann Honkus. Please remember in your prayers the soul of Jack Reesman who passed away last week. May God grant him eternal rest and peace. 3 Merry Christmas! On Monday evening, we will begin the joyful Christmas season and thank God for Jesus on His birthday. Father Victor and I hope and pray that everyone has a great Christmas. This year we will celebrate the season until Sunday, January 13, The Baptism of The Lord. I want to thank the partner parish staffs and all who helped in enhancing the art and environment of each church for this most wonderful time of the year. Also, thanks to all of our liturgical ministers, especially those in music ministry, for the time they have put in to help lift us up in song. Make sure that you stop and visit the crèches in each church to thank God for the many gifts He has given to us in the past year. Also, welcome to all of our visitors who are worshipping with us this weekend and will be here for Christmas. If you do not belong anywhere, I invite you to join one of our parishes to worship with us all year long. Father Fid Levri, our native son priest from, will be joining us a couple days after December 25 to celebrate Mass and visit with family and friends. I thank him for his willingness to help his home parish. Finally, St. Mary, Mother of God Parish will celebrate their patronal feast day on New Year s Day. During the 11 a.m. Mass, I will bless the new doors that have been installed. We will pray that the doors will reflect our hearts that should always be open to Christ in 2019 and for many years to come. Father Doug Celebrate Christmas with Us! This collection is titled the Children and Family Services Appeal. On the coming Christmas Feast, which reminds us of the gift of God's own Son, Jesus Christ given to each of us without question of our merit or eligibility. We ask you to support the Children and Family Services Appeal and make your contribution toward changing the future of an individual, a family or a child through the good work of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Greensburg.

4 St. Mary, Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish News Help Us Prepare Our Church for Christmas Sunday, December 23, after the Mass On this day, we are in need of parishioners to help with preparation of our church environment for Christmas season, including the placement of flowers, nativity set, cleaning and other important tasks. Please plan to join us for any part of the morning as your schedule permits. No prior experience necessary! Please note: There will be no Eucharistic Adoration in on Monday, December 24. Faith Formation and Children s Liturgy of the Word Christmas & New Year Break There will be no Faith Formation classes and no Children s Liturgy of the Word on Sunday, December 23 and Sunday, December 30. Classes will resume on Sunday, January 6. We wish all of our students and catechists a blessed Christmas. The Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Patricia $998 announce that the winner of their Quilt Raffle is Rose Warcholak. Ticket was purchased during the Fort Armstrong Folk Festival. The 11:00 Mass will be youth-led, with students serving as lectors, greeters, ushers and altar servers. Immediately following Mass the children of our parish will present a play in honor of the day Christ made Himself known to the world. Our parish family and visitors are invited to come together for refreshments and fellowship In St. Ann Hall at the conclusion of the program. Please plan to join us in this celebration of the Light of Christ present in our families and in our world. In order to balance budgets in our partner parishes, every year we rely heavily on the generous gifts that come to us through the Christmas collection. We also rely heavily on the weekly Offertory gifts that are made 52 weeks out of the year. Both, your Christmas gifts to our parish and your weekly Offertory gifts, help us manage our operating budget. We ask you to please be as generous as possible with your Christmas gift to your parish.
