No. God created them good and in his own image, that is, in true righteousness and holiness, so that they might truly know God their creator, love him with all their heart, and live with him in eternal happiness for his praise and glory. Q. Then where does this corrupt human nature come from? A. From the fall and disobedience of our first parents, Adam and Eve, in Paradise. This fall has so poisoned our nature that we are born sinners corrupt from conception on. Q. But are we so corrupt that we are totally unable to do any good and inclined toward all evil? A. The Lord s Supper will be served. The Lord s Supper is observed every Lord s Day at Faith Presbyterian Church alternating between the morning and the evening services. The officers have wanted to retain evening communion not only because all the Lord s Suppers explicitly mentioned in the New Testament were in the evening, but as well to reinforce the importance of Sunday evening worship as a regular part of the observance of the Lord s Day. Evening Prelude Begins at 5:40 p.m. Beautiful music enlivens our spirits and adds to our Sabbath joy. Each Sunday evening prior to the worship service, musicians begin to play or sing at 5:40 p.m. From the Irwin Family We are very grateful for everyone in the church who demonstrated God s grace by showering love upon Janie, her mom, and family at this time of mourning with the passing of her brother, Greg Muller. 6 Genesis 39 for Women SS Class Ladies and high school age girls: We invite you to join us for the viewing of the DVD our men and boys just finished watching. The Conqueror Series - The Battle for the Brain discusses the way the male brain functions. Many women have already mentioned they would like to see this, and so we shall on July 31. Sunday School Fellowship Hour in August Come and enjoy a time of fellowship and refreshments in DeSoto Hall between the and services during the month of August. Coffee will not be served after the 11:00 service. The ESL Sunday School class will continue on the regular weekly schedule; all other classes will resume in September. Adult Sunday School The Women of Faith Class I (WIC Room 117) We are meeting for prayer and fellowship. In September we will begin reading Mindy Belz book They Say We Are Infidels in preparation for her being with us for the Christmas Brunch. The Women of Faith Class II (Room 301) We are studying together the book of Luke. The Word of Faith Class (Sanctuary) Sinatra and Solomon. The Great American Songbook and the Great Hebrew Songbook. This class led by Robert Case is an exegetical look at the romance of the Song of Songs illuminated by the best American popular songs of the 20 th century. High School Sunday School (North Half of DeSoto Hall) The high school class continues in its series on a Christian understanding of gender and sexual identity. Better English on Sixth ESL Sunday School (Room 304) This class led by Tim Bentson and Andrew Milton is going through What Christians Believe, an ESL Bible study by J. Wesley Eby.

College & Career Group Our college & career group usually meets on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month: once for a social gathering and once for a small-group-style gathering. Men of Faith, Morning Prayer Meetings There are opportunities to meet with fellow Men of Faith for prayer each week: Wednesday morning with Phil Perkins: We meet at Treos Cafe in Old Town Tacoma, 2312 North 30 th at 6:00 am. This meeting, which originated six years ago has continuously focused on the Psalms. Thursday morning with Thom Wilson at 6:30 am at the church. We are reading and praying through Ian Hamilton s book The Faith Shaped Life.

8 Nursing Mothers In addition to the nursery rooms, Room #117 the Women in the Church room, is open and available for your convenience during all Worship Services. The service can be seen and heard in the WIC room. God s Breadbasket Ministry The purpose of God s Breadbasket is to provide meals for those families needing extra help due to illness, death in the family, or the arrival of newborns. If you know of a need, please contact Kathy Haass, Alisha Bennett or the church office. More participants are needed. If you would like to serve in this ministry (usually no more than one or two times per year) please contact Kathy or Alisha to be added to the roster. Thank you! Women to Women Ministry There is a ministry of mentoring by women to women here at Faith. If you would like to meet with a woman for this purpose, you may contact Debbie Mellott and she will put you in touch with one of the women providing this ministry. Hearing Assistance If you would like a device to help with hearing the worship service, please see a Deacon. Explanation of the Cover Symbol Since the time of the Reformation, the burning bush has been a symbol of the Church. The Latin words are taken from Exodus 3:2 and read...and yet it was not consumed. In one of his letters Samuel Rutherford reminds his correspondent, The bush has been burning these five thousand years, and no man yet saw the ashes of that fire.
