As the minister begins to serve those distributing the elements, that is your signal to come forward. However, individuals may commune at any time during the distribution of the elements. Wine will be found in the outside tray,

3 grape juice in the inside tray. If you need to be served in your pew, please notify an elder or deacon. Gluten free bread is available upon request. You are welcome to participate in the Lord s Supper if you are a baptized Christian, a follower of Jesus Christ, and a faithful member or adherent of this or some other congregation, recognized as belonging to the fellowship of Christian believers. If this does not describe you, we are glad you are here and commend to you this prayer for your use during the time of the Lord s Supper. Lord Jesus, you say that you and you alone are the way, the truth, and the life. You welcome all who are weary and burdened to come to you and promise to give them rest. You also say that those who come to you must be prepared to follow you, even at great cost. Help me, Lord Jesus, to believe what you say and to resolve to follow you whatever the cost. There are reasons enough for me to come to you. I admit that I am a sinner, more sinful than I ever dared to admit. But in you I find a greater love than I ever dared hope for. Thank you for your suffering and death in the place of sinners to pay their debt. Knowing that you have been raised from the dead, I turn from my sins and confess you, Jesus Christ, as my Savior and my Lord. Amen. 7 Women in the Church Kick-Off Dinner This Thursday Attention, all Ladies, junior high and older: Our kick-off dinner and meeting for the Women in the Church will be held this Thursday, September 21st. Dinner starts at and the meeting begins at 7:00 pm. Our theme this year is Building on a Firm Foundation and Pastor Rayburn will be our speaker. Come and hear about all the fun events we have planned for the upcoming year and find out the ways you can be involved in building up our sisters in Christ. Join us for a fun evening of fellowship! Today is the last day to sign up in the narthex. Men of Faith Oktoberfest - September 30th, 2017 Our 8th annual Oktoberfest will be on Saturday, September 30th from 2:00-5:00 pm at the home of Ken Kvale. Our guest speaker this year will be our own Robert Rogland. Bob has authored numerous books including Romans: A Study Guide and Luther's Ninety-Five Theses for the 21st Century. Bob will bring us a message on the topic of Martin Luther's Ninety-five theses. Oktoberfest has become the kick-off for our next book to read and discuss together in small groups. The 500th anniversary of Martin Luther s Ninety-Five theses is October 31, 2017 and we will be reading Bob Rogland s book mentioned above. A sign-up sheet will be available in the Narthex today and next Sunday, September 24th. The cost is $8 for adults and $5 under age 21. Teenage sons are most welcome. Baby Shower for Katherine Fahling Ladies, there will be a baby shower for Katherine Fahling on Tuesday, October 3rd in Desoto Hall at 7:00 p.m. The box will be in the narthex if you want to contribute to the group gift. Katherine and her husband are new to the church so this is a great opportunity to get to know her and surround her with care and support. Don t miss out on Dr. Rayburn s presentation on this crucial topic during the Sunday School hour on September 24 th in the sanctuary. Genesis 39 for Women Next Sunday Ladies, please join us as we begin the year with prayer! We want to lift our cries to the One who hears for our marriages, our young men and women, our relationships between parents and children. Some of us will also share how the Lord is using the power of prayer in our lives. Adult Sunday School The Women of Faith Class I (WIC Room 117) We are reading and discussing Dick Hannula s book, Heralds of the Reformation: Thirty Biographies of Sheer Grace. In the Fall of 2017 we celebrate the 500th anniversary of the Reformation, so what better subject to cover than the story of the struggle between the theological authorities and the men and women who refused to keep quiet about the sheer grace of the Gospel. Please join us. You don t need a copy of the book. The Women of Faith Class II (Covenant High School Office) We are studying together the book Alive in the Spirit by A.W. Tozer.

8 The Word of Faith Class (Sanctuary) In preparation for our celebration of the 500th Anniversary of the start of the Reformation, Elder Hannula is teaching a 6 week class entitled: Highlights of the German Reformation. High School Sunday School (North Half of DeSoto Hall) Pastor Nicoletti and the high school class continue their year-long study of Dante s Divine Comedy. Better English on Sixth ESL Sunday School (Room 304) This class led by Kathy Lewis is reading aloud The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis. Study guides and copies of the book are provided free for class attendees. Choristers Rehearsals Resume Wednesday, September 27 th Choristers will meet each Wednesday evening, 7:00 to 8:15, under Melissa McMillan s direction. To register your treble-voiced child (ages 7 +), sign up on the clipboard at the FPCMusic table in the narthex. Join the ACM Festival Choir to Sing Vivaldi's Gloria during Advent 2017 Rehearsals for the timeless oratorio, Gloria, by Antonio Vivaldi have begun and continue on succeeding Tuesdays through November. Gloria will be performed by the ACM Festival Choir under Ron Bechtel's direction on December 3. For more information, click acmusicians.org. Men of Faith, Morning Prayer Meetings & Devotions There are opportunities to meet with fellow Men of Faith for prayer and devotions each week: Monday-Friday mornings Fit for the Cross devotions with Jim Roland, 5:30 am at the church, Room 304. Come to the North door of the church. Any questions call Jim. Wednesday mornings with Phil Perkins: We meet at Old Town MarKee coffee shop at 2312 N. 30th St., Tacoma. This group meets at 6 am for Bible reading and prayer. After several years we continue to focus solely on the Psalms which serve as a life guide. One of the ancient church fathers, Athanasius wrote, Whatever your particular need or trouble, from this same book (the Psalms) you can select a form of words to fit it, so that you...learn the way to remedy your ill. Thursday mornings with Thom Wilson, 6:30 am at the church. Join us in studying through the books of Ezra and Nehemiah as we pray for our concerns and the world around us. College & Career Community Groups College & Career is a young adult ministry of Faith Presbyterian Church. The goal is to provide opportunities for young adults 18 and older, whether single or married, to "do life" together throughout the week and form deep Christian friendships. C&C Community Groups are weekly small groups that meet in a home for dinner and fellowship. We currently have two established groups: one that meets on Tuesday at Caleb and Tamala Bestvater's home at 7 pm and one that meets on Thursday at Nate and Rachael Shelden's home at 6:30 pm. Meals on Wheels The purpose of Meals on Wheels is to provide meals for those families needing extra help due to illness, death in the family, adoption or childbirth.
