3 +Confession of Sin Silent Prayer Corporate Prayer O Lord Jesus Christ, looking on You whom we have pierced, we mourn for our sins of thought, word, and deed which we are always committing against Your holy majesty and which made necessary Your suffering and death for our salvation; we have not loved You with all our heart nor humbly served one another as You have served us. As the minister begins to serve those distributing the elements, that is your signal to come forward. However, individuals may commune at any time during the distribution of the elements. Wine will be found in the outside tray, grape juice in the inside tray. If you need to be served in your pew, please notify an elder or deacon. Gluten free bread is available upon request. You are welcome to participate in the Lord s Supper if you are a baptized Christian, a follower of Jesus Christ, and a faithful member or adherent of this or some other congregation, recognized as belonging to the fellowship of Christian believers. If this does not describe you, we are glad you are here and commend to you this prayer for your use during the time of the Lord s Supper. Lord Jesus, you say that you and you alone are the way, the truth, and the life. You welcome all who are weary and burdened to come to you and promise to give them rest. You also say that those who come to you must be prepared to follow you, even at great cost. Help me, Lord Jesus, to believe what you say and to resolve to follow you whatever the cost. There are reasons enough for me to come to you. I admit that I am a sinner, more sinful than I ever dared to admit. But in you I find a greater love than I ever dared hope for. Thank you for your suffering and death in the place of sinners to pay their debt. 8 Invite Your Friends to Our Easter Sunday Service! We are excited to have Dan Naulty with us to give his testimony next Sunday morning. A former Major League baseball pitcher and World Series winner with the 1999 NY Yankees, Dan became a Christian in He went on to complete an undergraduate degree at Moody Bible Institute, an MA in biblical studies at Trinity, and a post-graduate degree in practical theology at Oxford University. We first became acquainted with Dan and his family several years ago when he served as the Greater Olympia Area Young Life Director and they began worshipping with us at Faith. Dan now resides with his family in Grand Rapids, Michigan and is an aspiring writer on various theological topics, currently working on a book titled: Hope, A Memoir. He is an ordained minister and is busy writing, preaching, speaking and helping his wife Cassandra raise their two boys Hunter and Taylor. We look forward to hearing how Dan s life was transformed when he met Jesus nearly 20 years ago. Christian Education The Session and Diaconate of Faith Presbyterian would like to encourage our church families to consider Christian Education for the instruction of their children. Realizing that this is a significant expense, Faith Presbyterian has established a Christian Education Fund to provide families needing assistance with a portion of tuition fees for K-12 education at Christian Schools. If you feel that cost is an impediment to your children receiving quality Christian instruction, please contact the Church office to be considered for this assistance. Happy Mother s Day! Explanation of the Cover Symbol In the Greek language of the early Christian era abbreviations were typically the first and last letters of words, often with a superscription to indicate the missing letters. IC is a standard abbreviation of IHCOYC, the Greek Jesus, XC the abbreviation of XPICTOC, Christ; NIKA means He conquers. The symbol then reads Jesus Christ Conquers by the Cross or Jesus Christ Victor.

9 Genesis 39 Sunday School Class Today What is Genesis 39? The name Genesis 39 was adopted from the account of Joseph refusing the advancement of Potiphar s wife, avoiding her seduction and ultimately fleeing. We believe this encapsulates the allure of sexual temptation and the most appropriate antidote. The purposes of Genesis 39 are the following: to promote a biblical understanding and practice of male sexuality, to raise awareness of the ever-present dangers of sexual temptations and raise necessary barriers, and to assist those embroiled in sexual struggles by befriending and speaking the power and hope of the Gospel into their lives. Genesis 39 Project for Women Special Speaker Anna Carini, on staff with Harvest USA Ministries in Philadelphia, will address our ladies this Sunday in Desoto Hall. Anna works with women whose lives have been damaged by their husbands addiction to pornography and sexual sin. The high school girls will have a break out session at the same time. Adult Sunday School Genesis 39 (Sanctuary) All men of the congregation (5th graders to senior citizens) will meet in the sanctuary today for the monthly Sunday school class sponsored by the new ministry of our congregation we are calling Genesis 39. Women s Complement Class to Genesis 39 (North Half of DeSoto Hall) All women (high schoolers and older) are invited to join us in DeSoto Hall for the complement class to Genesis 39. There will be a breakout session for the high school girls. Music Ministry: Today s Evening Prelude Evening Service prelude begins at 5:40 p.m. Abraham Sullivan and Amy Castle will present beautiful piano music. Music Ministry: Choristers Choristers is a choir for treble voices. They rehearse each Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. in the Choir Room under Melissa McMillan s direction. Music Ministry: Enjoy Three Free Recitals on April 2, FPC sanctuary In conjunction with the 7th annual ACM Young Church Musicians Recital Competition, several of our young musicians will join 41 performers as they play beautiful pieces for cello, piano, viola and violin. Music Ministry: Student Educational Event in May In collaboration with ACM, FPC will host an Accompanist Workshop and Masterclass with two experienced church and concert musicians, Maddie Lee and Sydney Jarrard, on Saturday, May 21, 2016, 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Registration required. The event will conclude with a piano recital presented by Sydney Jarrard at 2:00 p.m. The recital is free and open to the public. The workshop and masterclass is open to all pianists who want to become excellent accompanists, collaborating with soloists, ensembles, and choirs. Men of Faith, Morning Prayer Meetings There are opportunities to meet with fellow Men of Faith for prayer each week: Wednesday morning with Phil Perkins: We meet at Treos Cafe in Old Town Tacoma, 2312 North 30th at 6:00 am. This meeting, which originated six years ago has continuously focused on the Psalms. Thursday morning with Thom Wilson at 6:30 am at the church. We are reading and praying through Ian Hamilton s book The Faith Shaped Life. Nursing Mothers In addition to the nursery rooms, Room #117 the Women In the Church room, is open and available for your convenience during all Worship Services. The service can be seen and heard in the WIC room. God s Breadbasket Ministry The purpose of God s Breadbasket is to provide meals for those families needing extra help due to illness, death in the family, or the arrival of newborns.
