As the minister begins to serve those distributing the elements, that is your signal to come forward. However, individuals may commune at any time during the distribution of the elements. Wine will be found in the outside tray, grape juice in the inside tray. If you need to be served in your pew, please notify an elder or deacon. Gluten free bread is available upon request. You are welcome to participate in the Lord s Supper if you are a baptized Christian, a follower of Jesus Christ, a faithful member or adherent of this or some other congregation, recognized as belonging to the fellowship of Christian believers. If this does not describe you, we are glad you are here commend to you this prayer for your use during the time of the Lord s Supper. O Holy Father, you have freely given your Son, O Divine Son, you have freely paid debt, O Eternal Spirit, you do freely bid me come, O Triune God, you do freely grace me with salvation. 7 Evening Prelude Begins at 5:40 p.m. Beautiful music enlivens our spirits adds to our Sabbath joy. Each Sunday evening prior to the worship service, musicians begin to play or sing at 5:40 pm. From the Session As reported at the annual meeting, further discussion of the session s proposal to eliminate one of the three pastoral positions will continue. One recommendation of the Presbytery s committee that discussed this proposal with us was that a maximum effort be made to assure transparency. As a result, we are committed to follow up on plans, previously announced, to meet with the congregation in numbers of manageable size to discuss with you this proposal as well as the several other important transitions the church is now facing. It is a very important moment in the history of the church, going forward we want us all to be considering the same information reflecting on the same concerns. We urge every member of the church to attend one of these meetings. We are eager to provide you opportunity to ask your questions give us your comments. We want the congregation to be fully informed before any decisions are taken. No plans were or are in place to schedule the congregational meeting at which action on this proposal might be taken. It is not necessary to hurry the process along. We are happy to allow time for thorough discussion. Gutierrez Baby Shower This Tuesday, February 6 Ladies, come join us Tuesday at 7:00 pm, for a delightful evening of celebrating the upcoming arrival of baby girl Gutierrez. Kelly is registered for the essentials on Amazon or you can give to the group gift in the narthex. If you enjoy shopping the baby girl section, as I think all of us do, clothes all frilly accessories are more than welcome, as well. Please come help us surround Kelly with love as she prepares to welcome this little girl. Women in the Church Thursday, February 15 th, 7:00 pm Ladies, please join us for the Women in the Church meeting, Thursday, Feb. 15 th, 7pm in DeSoto Hall. Adult Sunday School The Women of Faith Class I (WIC Room 117) We are reading discussing Dick Hannula s book, Heralds of the Reformation: Thirty Biographies of Sheer Grace. In the Fall of 2017 we celebrated the 500th anniversary of the Reformation, so what better subject to cover than the story of the struggle between the theological authorities the men women who refused to keep quiet about the sheer grace of the Gospel. Please join us. You don t need a copy of the book. The Women of Faith Class II (Covenant High School Office) We are studying together the book Alive in the Spirit by A.W. Tozer. The Word of Faith Class (Sanctuary) Jeff David continues a series on I Corinthians. High School Sunday School (North Half of DeSoto Hall) Pastor Nicoletti the high school class continue their yearlong study of Dante s Divine Comedy. Better English on Sixth ESL Sunday School (Room 304) Kathy Lewis facilitates the Better English class where individual American partners help each international who wishes to read or discuss material at an appropriate level of English. 8 Men of Faith, Morning Prayer Meetings & Devotions There are opportunities to meet with fellow Men of Faith for prayer devotions each week: Wednesday mornings with Phil Perkins: We meet at Old Town Anthem coffee shop at 2312 N. 30th St., Tacoma. This group meets at 6 am for Bible reading prayer. After several years we continue to focus solely on the Psalms which serve as a life guide. One of the ancient church fathers, Athanasius wrote, Whatever your particular need or trouble, from this same book (the Psalms) you can select a form of words to fit it, so that you...learn the way to remedy your ill. Thursday mornings with Thom Wilson, 6:30 am at the church. Join us in studying through the books of Ezra Nehemiah as we pray for our concerns the world around us. College & Career Community Groups College & Career is a young adult ministry of Faith Presbyterian Church. The goal is to provide opportunities for young adults 18 older, whether single or married, to do life together throughout the week form deep Christian friendships. C&C Community Groups are weekly small groups that meet in a home for dinner fellowship. We currently have one established group that meets on Thursday at Nate Rachael Shelden s home at 6:30 pm. For more details, or if you re interested in joining a C&C Community Group, please contact one of us we ll help you get connected! Meals on Wheels The purpose of Meals on Wheels is to provide meals for those families needing extra help due to illness, death in the family, adoption or childbirth. If you know of a need, please contact Kathy Haass, Alisha Bennett or the church office. Meal needs may be requested via TNT (This n That), the church s announcement system. Nursing Mothers In addition to the nursery rooms, Room #117 the Women in the Church room, is open available for your convenience during all Worship Services. The service can be seen heard in the WIC room. Hearing Assistance If you would like a device to help with hearing the worship service, please see a Deacon.
