3 -HAVING OUR HEARTS CLEANSED- Confession of Sin Lord Jesus, forgive us and help us. We are slow to learn, prone to forget, and weak to climb. We are in the foothills when we should be on the heights. We are pained by our graceless hearts, our prayerless days, our poverty of love, our sloth in the heavenly race, our sullied consciences, our wasted hours, and our unspent opportunities. We are blind while the light shines around us. Take the scales from our eyes and grind to dust our hearts of unbelief. Make it our greatest joy to study, meditate, and gaze upon you; to sit like Mary at your feet, to lean like John on your breast, to appeal like Peter to your love, to count like Paul all things rubbish compared to knowing and gaining you. I am anointed to confess his name, to present myself to him as a living sacrifice of thanks, to strive with a good conscience against sin and the devil in this life, and afterward to reign with Christ over all creation for all eternity. The Heidelberg Catechism, No. 32 -OBSERVING THE SACRAMENT- The Lord s Supper We celebrate the Lord s Supper by coming forward and partaking of the bread and the cup. Wine is served in the inner ring of each tray; grape juice in the outer ring. We warmly invite to the Table all baptized Christians, who are living under the authority of Christ and his Church. By eating the bread and drinking of the cup, you are admitting that you are a sinner, without hope except in the sovereign mercy of God, and that you are trusting in Christ alone for salvation.

Amen. *Please stand if able Our Nursery Helpers Worship Today: Jackson Leinweber Next Week: Erika & Katie Leinweber Gatherings Kids Quest is a catechism class for children, ages 5 through elementary grades, taught by Pastor Ron. It meets on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month (September through May), from 3:30 to 4:45 PM, at the church. The Leinweber Home Fellowship Group, led by Chad, meets at the Leinweber s (60 Cranbrook Ln) on the second and fourth Sundays of each month, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. They are considering the Bible s teaching on parenting and all (including children) are welcome. The Martin Home Fellowship Group is taking a break for the summer. It will resume in September. The Men s Group meets Wednesdays, from 6:00 to 7:30 AM, at Pastor Ron s office, for fellowship, prayer, and Bible study. The group is currently studying Ecclesiastes, and all men are invited. Prayer Meeting: We meet the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month, at 7:00 PM in the sanctuary, to pray for one another, the kingdom, and our world. Please join us.

8 Prayer Concerns Andrew Allen (our church planter in Soldotna, AK) is battling cancer. Pray the treatment he is receiving continues to help, and that he and Amy know God s peace during this time. Robert Fastenow remains at Park Manor. Pray his rehab is effective, and he is kept in God s peace. Brian and Gail Frey (Boise): Pray for the Freys as they recover from a busy school year and plan for the one ahead; that God continues to use them and RUF at Boise State University to reach many students with the gospel. Riley Granberry (Chris nephew) continues to battle brain cancer. Pray for peace and strength as he undergoes treatment, as well as for healing. Bob Shaver (Rick Myers father) is out of ICU and growing stronger each day. Pray the dialysis continues to help, and that Rick and his brothers find the right assisted living facility for him. Please note any corrections yet to be made. We plan to print it this week. Session Meeting: The elders are meeting this Thursday, at 5:30 PM, to pray for and conduct the business of the church. Explanation of Cover Symbol Since the time of the Reformation, the burning bush has been a symbol of the Church. The Latin words are taken from Exodus 3.2 and read...and yet it was not consumed. In one of his letters, Samuel Rutherford reminded his correspondent, The bush has been burning these five thousand years, and no man yet saw the ashes of that fire.
