Positively, two affirmations are made about each person of the Godhead. Reading from the center circle outward: God (Deus) is (est) Father (P is for Pater), God is Son (F is for Filius), and God is Holy Spirit (SS is for Spiritus Sanctus). Reading from the outer circles inward: The Father is God, the Son is God, and the Holy Spirit is God. Negatively, two affirmations are likewise made about each person of the Godhead. Reading clockwise and counterclockwise from one outer circle to the other two: The Father is not (non est) the Son or the Holy Spirit, the Son is not the Father or the Holy Spirit, and the Holy Spirit is not the Father or the Son. 7 This Evening Concluding our Reformation 500 celebration, Professor Charles King will speak tonight on Doctrine or Devotion? Prof. King has served as longtime Pastor of Worship and Music at College Church of Wheaton before taking his current post as Visiting Assistant Professor of Music at Trinity International University. He teaches various music courses and directs choral and instrumental ensembles. His recent thesis written for Wheaton Graduate School equips him well to speak on the musical impact of the Reformation. Our Preacher This Morning Dr. Hans Madueme is a native Nigerian with both M.D. and PhD degrees. As a theologian, he specializes in the challenge that modern scientism poses for the Christian faith. He has written and spoken widely on the historicity of Adam and Eve and the doctrine of original sin, which in our culture are the watershed issues even as justification was in the 16th century. New Wood Carving to Be Unveiled This Evening Dale Woodard's fourth wood carving will be unveiled this evening. Come for refreshments and string music with a Scottish flair at 5:15 p.m. in the narthex. Unveiling will take place at 5:45 p.m., just before the evening service. Adult Sunday School All Adult Classes (Sanctuary) All regular adult classes, including the high school class, meet in the sanctuary today for an interview by Pastor Rayburn with Dr. Hans Madueme. Better English on Sixth ESL Sunday School (Room 304) This class led by Kathy Lewis is reading aloud The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis. Study guides and copies of the book are provided free for class attendees. International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church, Adult Sunday School Next Week All adult Sunday School classes, with the exception of the ESL Class (Room 304), will meet in the Sanctuary for a time of reflection and prayer for our brothers and sisters around the globe led by Elder Dick Hannula. The regular schedule will resume Sunday, November 19 th. Covenant High School Service, Sunday Evening, November 12 Our evening service next Lord s Day begins at 5:30 pm with an extended prelude. Both prelude and postlude music will be performed by Covenant High School students, and the Madrigal Choir will sing A Mighty Fortress Is Our God. Principal David Miller will give an update about the school, and an offering will be taken for The Covenant Fund. Women in the Church Meeting - Thursday, November 16th, 7:00 pm Attention to All Ladies, junior high and older: Our next Women in the Church Meeting will be held Thursday, Nov. 16th, at 7:00 pm. If you can, come at 6:30 pm to help put together Harvest Bags and enjoy refreshments and fellowship. (There will be a box in the Narthex to place your items in for the Harvest Bags. Suggested items: candy, baked goods such as cookies, mini loaves of sweet bread, homemade jam half pint, teas, pens & notepads, stationary, stamps, homemade washcloths, dish towels, Christmas ornaments, bar soap, chap-stick, etc.) We ll be hearing Emily Downie s testimony and a book report; a missionary update from April Murphree will round out our evening. 8 Please join us in helping to contribute to a happier Christmas for the children at Hope Fellowship Church on the Yakama Indian Reservation. Hope Fellowship counts on churches like ours to help them share the love of Jesus at Christmas time by donating gifts for the children in their congregation; and there are many! For some of the children these are the only Christmas gifts they receive. This year we are collecting small items that will be used to fill shoe boxes to hand out to the boys and girls at the Christmas celebration. Stop by the table in the narthex and pick up a list of suggested items to purchase. Place the gifts, unwrapped, in the box provided. You may also donate cash, as well as Walmart gift cards in any denomination. The cash donations and Walmart gift cards may be put in the small box in the narthex or given to Sean or Margo Kelly; or to Phil or Evelyn German. The deadline to donate shoe box gifts and Walmart gift cards is Thanksgiving Day, November 23rd. The deadline to make cash donations will be Sunday, December 3, Christmas Bazaar Early Do you want to shop early for Christmas presents? Do you want to find something unusual but pretty, or handy, or smelly, or tasty for that hard-to-buy-for person? Do you want to visit with friends while you do your shopping? Then the 5th Annual (or is it 6th? or?) Christmas Bazaar at the Darby home is just where you need to be on Saturday, November 18 from 10 am - 2 pm. VENDORS: Contact Tammy Hanks to sign up for display space. Send her pretty pictures of your beautiful items. And bring some refreshments on Saturday to share with shoppers. Choristers Rehearsals Underway Choristers meet each Wednesday evening, 7:00 to 8:15, under Melissa McMillan s direction. To register your treble-voiced child (ages 7 +), contact Melissa. Men of Faith, Morning Prayer Meetings & Devotions There are opportunities to meet with fellow Men of Faith for prayer and devotions each week: Monday-Friday mornings Fit for the Cross devotions with Jim Roland, 5:30 am at the church, Room 304. Come to the North door of the church. Any questions call Jim. Wednesday mornings with Phil Perkins: We meet at Old Town MarKee coffee shop at 2312 N. 30th St., Tacoma. This group meets at 6 am for Bible reading and prayer. After several years we continue to focus solely on the Psalms which serve as a life guide. One of the ancient church fathers, Athanasius wrote, Whatever your particular need or trouble, from this same book (the Psalms) you can select a form of words to fit it, so that you...learn the way to remedy your ill. Thursday mornings with Thom Wilson, 6:30 am at the church. Join us in studying through the books of Ezra and Nehemiah as we pray for our concerns and the world around us. Please note that our last meeting for November will be this Thursday, November 8. We will take a break and resume meeting on December 14. College & Career Community Groups College & Career is a young adult ministry of Faith Presbyterian Church. The goal is to provide opportunities for young adults 18 and older, whether single or married, to "do life" together throughout the week and form deep Christian friendships. C&C Community Groups are weekly small groups that meet in a home for dinner and fellowship. We currently have two established groups: one that meets on Tuesday at Caleb and Tamala Bestvater's home at 7 pm and one that meets on Thursday at Nate and

Meals on Wheels The purpose of Meals on Wheels is to provide meals for those families needing extra help due to illness, death in the family, adoption or childbirth.
