As the minister begins to serve those distributing the elements, that is your signal to come forward. However, individuals may commune at any time during the distribution of the elements. Wine will be found in the outside tray, grape juice in the inside tray. If you need to be served in your pew, please notify an elder or deacon. Gluten free bread is available upon request. You are welcome to participate in the Lord s Supper if you are a baptized Christian, a follower of Jesus Christ, and a faithful member or adherent of this or some other congregation, recognized as belonging to the fellowship of Christian believers. In addition, a local representative from The Gideons International, Don Whitehead, will bring us a report. Daylight Saving Time Begins Next Lord s Day Remember to turn your clocks forward next Saturday evening, as daylight saving time begins next Sunday, March 10 th. Eat, Talk, Pray: Wednesday Night Fellowship Meals Beginning on March 6, we will be offering dinner before prayer meeting. These meals will be on the 1 st and 3 rd Wednesdays only. So, mark your calendar; you won t want to miss out! This Wednesday, an Arabic mezze will be spread in DeSoto Hall. What is a mezze, you may ask? Imagine friends and family sitting around a table, passing heaping plates of hummus, baba ghanouj, falafel, and za atar bread, and laughing, talking amid the clang of glasses and plates. Mezze is a ritual about sharing not just bites of delicious food, but stories, experiences, laughter and opinions! Come and enjoy the atmosphere eat, talk, then pray.

8 Can you hear me now? There is one aspect of our worship that we hope you never think about: the sound system! (Because, if you are thinking about it, something has probably just gone wrong. Sorry.) There is a small team of volunteers that manages the sound board and video feed for our services. If you are interested in learning how this technology works or in joining our team, there are two training opportunities coming up. You may choose to meet us in the sanctuary either on Thursday, March 28th, at 7:00 pm or on Saturday, March 30th, at 9:00 am. Contact Doug Lawty, if you have any questions. Covenant Seminary On-line Information Covenant Seminary now provides on-line theological education for those who may be contemplating seminary, either as ministers-to-be or simply to take on-line courses. The seminary offers several on-line degrees, making it possible for people to stay rooted in their current community and church while getting a seminary education. Dr. Mike Higgins, Dean of Students at Covenant Seminary, will be in Seattle the end of the month. An informal breakfast is planned on Saturday morning, March 30 th at 9am at the Grace Church Seattle office, which is at 400 E Pine Street, Suite 215. It will be an opportunity for prospective students to find out more about what Covenant has to offer. Knitting Friendships this Thursday Ladies interested in knitting, crocheting, or any kind of handwork please join us for our monthly meeting on the first Thursday of the month, March 7, 1:00-3:00 pm, downstairs in the Women s Fellowship Room 117. Sunday School This Morning Dale Woodard has completed the final carving in his Heroes of Faith series. The carving of Abraham and Isaac has been installed. During the Sunday School hour, Dale will have an extended talk about the entire process leading up to the completion of this 7 th carving. All Sunday School classes 5 th grade and up are encouraged to come hear this interesting account. Adult Sunday School The Word of Faith Class (Sanctuary) Mike Pfefferle takes a break from his introduction to early Christianity today so we may hear from Dale Woodard about his carving project, now finished and on display in the narthex. Better English on Sixth ESL Sunday School (Room 304) Kathy Lewis facilitates the Better English class where individual American partners help each international who wishes to read or discuss material at an appropriate level of English. Please contact Kathy or Jonathan Nichols if you would like to become a partner or assist Better English on Sixth in any way. Explanation of the Cover Symbol The Shield of the Holy Trinity: Found frequently in stained glass windows of medieval churches, this emblem expresses the Christian doctrine of the triunity of Almighty God. Positively, two affirmations are made about each person of the Godhead. Reading from the center circle outward: God (Deus) is (est) Father (P is for Pater), God is Son (F is for Filius), and God is Holy Spirit (SS is for Spiritus Sanctus). Reading from the outer circles inward: The Father is God, the Son is God, and the Holy Spirit is God. Negatively, two affirmations are likewise made about each person of the Godhead. Reading clockwise and counter-clockwise from one outer circle to the other two: The Father is not (non est) the Son or the Holy Spirit, the Son is not the Father or the Holy Spirit, and the Holy Spirit is not the Father or the Son.

9 Men of Faith, Morning Prayer Meetings & Devotions There are opportunities to meet with fellow Men of Faith for prayer and devotions each week: Wednesday mornings with Phil Perkins: We meet at Bluebeard Coffee Roasters, th Avenue in Tacoma. This group meets at 6 am for Bible reading and prayer. After several years we continue to focus solely on the Psalms which serve as a life guide. This is our third time through the Psalms over the course of nine years. One of the ancient church fathers, Athanasius wrote, Whatever your particular need or trouble, from this same book (the Psalms) you can select a form of words to fit it, so that you...learn the way to remedy your ill. Thursday mornings with Thom Wilson, 6:30 am at the church. Join us in studying through the Gospel of Johnas we pray for our concerns and the world around us. College & Career Community Groups College & Career is a young adult ministry of Faith Presbyterian Church. The goal is to provide opportunities for young adults 18 and older, whether single or married, to do life together throughout the week and form deep Christian friendships. C&C Community Groups are weekly small groups that meet in a home for dinner and fellowship. We currently have one established group that meets on Thursday at Nate and Rachael Shelden s home at 6:30 pm. For more details, or if you re interested in joining a C&C Community Group, please contact one of us and we ll help you get connected! Meals on Wheels The purpose of Meals on Wheels is to provide meals for those families needing extra help due to illness, death in the family, adoption or childbirth. If you know of a need, please contact Kathy Haass, Alisha Bennett or the church office. Meal needs will be requested via TNT (This n That), the church s announcement system. To receive TNT s, please contact the church office. Thank you! Nursing Mothers In addition to the nursery rooms, Room #117 the Women in the Church room, is open and available for your convenience during all Worship Services.
