2 astor s Corner with Father Denis Following the publication of the Annual Report last month, Father Denis indicated that more detailed information would be delivered to the parish regarding capital expenditures. He has graciously given over the Pastor s Corner for several weeks to report from the business office on the current status of major parish capital projects kitchen renovation, rectory walkway and parking lot. KITCHEN Most of the major components of the kitchen renovation are complete, as follows: Electrical repairs/upgrades Plumbing repairs/upgrades Installation of new cabinets/countertops Installation of new flooring Lighting upgrades The kitchen appliances have all been moved back into the kitchen. The new hood and fire suppression system have been completely installed and connected to the school s fire alarm system, as required by village ordinance. At this time, an appointment is being scheduled to inspect and test the entire system, which involves the Village of LaGrange Park and the vendors involved with this installation. Once this process is complete, we should have all the approvals necessary to utilize the kitchen again. and countertops however these materials were purchased at cost with an in-kind donation from another generous parishioner, who also provided in-kind design services. Estimated costs to complete the kitchen renovation are budgeted at approximately $10,000. RECTORY WALKWAY The rectory entrance has been made ADA compliant, with the redesign of the concrete walkway. This project is substantially complete other than landscaping, that is scheduled to be completed in the spring of this year. Next week s column will follow up with Part II, the PARKING LOT, including costs, sources of financing and what s left to complete on this capital project. See you then! Lynn Waterloo, Business Manager The parish has generously received $31,550 in cash donations, over the last year, for this capital project. We are most grateful for the in-kind donations, particularly from Mr. Kurkjian for completely installing the cabinets and countertops. At this time, the project has incurred costs totaling approximately $42,900. Over 50% of this amount is allocated to cabinets

One way to experience this is reflection on the events of Jesus passion and death. Praying the Stations of the Cross helps us to prepare for Easter. 5 Teen Club There will be no high school or jr. high Teen Club until Friday, February 23, due to other parish events in the PC and Colonnade Room. See the notice below about 30Hour Famine! 30Hour Famine On Friday and Saturday, March 2-3, youth in grades 7-12 are invited to go without food so that children in developing countries can eat. Summer Internship Program for College Students Totus Tuus is a summer mission program that offers college students the opportunity to put their faith into action. The Chicago Archdiocese Totus Tuus Missionaries will be sent out to parishes across the Archdiocese, putting on faith based missions for youth. The Vocations Office is looking for college students practicing and living their faith who have completed their freshman year of college. The program begins May 27th, After training, the Missionaries are grouped into teams of four and sent out into a new parish each week, until the program ends July 28th, with a one week break to enjoy the 4th of July with family and friends. Being a Totus Tuus Missionary is a wonderful opportunity for college students to grow in their faith, make an impact on the lives of hundreds of youth this summer, and make money for college (Missionaries will be paid $2,250, plus food and lodging). Applications are due by Sunday, February 17, 2018 and available at Chicagopriest.com.
