May it please the supreme and divine Goodness to give us all abundant grace ever to know his most holy will and perfectly to fulfill it. The Well Spirituality Center 1515 Ogden Avenue, LaGrange Park, IL. To register: online at or call Meister Eckhart s Book of the Heart: Practicing Wholeness in a Time of Fragmentation Saturday, August 4 9AM 3:30 PM Mark Burrows, Ph.D. The eye with which I see God is exactly the same eye with which God sees me. My eye and God s eye are one eye, one seeing, one knowledge, one love. Meister Eckhart, 13 th -14 th c. mystic This day-retreat, based on the book of the same title, will provide an opportunity to drink deeply from the wellspring of Meister Eckhart s bold and courageous vision, whose language continues to be a guiding beacon of light to those seeking to live more authentically, faithfully, freely. Explore Eckhart with author and retreat leader Mark Burrows, and emerge into a more creative and audacious form of faithfulness. Cost: $75, includes lunch. Please register in advance, by July 30. Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie Day Trip Wilmington, IL Friday, August 10 9:45 AM 4:00 PM Imagine walking through a field of tallgrass prairie 10 feet tall! We ll do this at Midewin, a 20,000 acre experiment in prairie restoration, where a herd of bison was introduced as a way to help restore a native tallgrass ecosystem on a site dominated by decaying WWII munitions structures and roads. Nothing remotely on this scale or complexity has ever been attempted before! A ranger from the U.S. Forest Service will guide our hike through this healing landscape of grasslands, savanna, wetlands and seeps, upland forests and streams. Cost: $30, including transportation from The Well. Please register in advance, by August 8. SAVE THE DATE Growing Downward: Day Retreat with Gail Worcelo, SGM Saturday, October 6 9:30 AM 3:00 PM There is a line in a poem by the poet /farmer Wendell Berry that says, I am growing downward. This beautiful image suggests a descent into the Earth Community by discovering ourselves more fully inside the sacred community of life. During our time together, we will explore what it means to grow downward through images and directives from the work of Thomas Berry, discovering the Footprints of God inside our own lives and translating them into action for our world. Gail Worcelo is the author of Holy Ground: Where Catholic Tradition and the Universe Story Meet and cofounder of The Green Mountain Monastery in Vermont. Cost: $100, includes lunch. Take advantage of our Early Bird Special Price of $75, through September 22 nd. Page 3

Inquiries & resumes can be directed to Fr. Chris Aleti at amadriga67@gmail.com Eucharistic Adoration Tuesdays 3:00 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays 7:00 9:00 p.m. Page 4 Silence is golden, but is it, in fact, much rarer than gold? We all need moments of silence to reflect on what we value and believe about life. Tuning out the noisy world helps people develop the ability to reflect and grow. Silence also facilitates mental prayer at a time when so many are in need of rediscovering it. We need the sacred to help lead the faithful into greater silence, particularly as the world relentlessly gives us noise. Making time for Eucharistic adoration gives us a positive stillness that will restore us. Such stillness a time of recollection, giving us an inward peace, allowing us to draw breath and rediscover the one thing necessary, which we have forgotten. submitted by Marylee Powderly.
