6 SHEPHERDING PRAYER Larry Valentine, Ruling Elder WE BRING GOD S TITHES & OUR OFFERINGS WE CONFESS OUR SIN AS THE PEOPLE OF GOD From the Worship Sourcebook, based on Psalm 51:10-12 LEADER: Merciful God, You pardon all who truly repent and turn to You. We humbly confess our sins and ask Your mercy. We have not loved You with a pure heart, nor have we loved our neighbor as ourselves. We have not done justice, loved kindness, or walked humbly with You, our God. Have mercy on us, O God, in Your loving-kindness. In Your great compassion, cleanse us from our sin. (We will take some time for silent confession) TOGETHER: Create in us a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within us. Do not cast us from Your presence, or take Your Holy Spirit from us. Restore to us the joy of Your salvation and sustain us with your bountiful Spirit through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen. 8 PREACHING OF THE WORD Jesse York, Pastor Elders 1 Peter 5:1 5 So I exhort the elders among you, as a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, as well as a partaker in the glory that is going to be revealed: 2 shepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight, not under compulsion, but willingly, as God would have you; not for shameful gain, but eagerly; 3 not domineering over those in your charge, but being examples to the flock. 4 And when the chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory. 5 Likewise, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.
