2 St Francis of Assisi Parish Teutopolis, Illinois page 2 Meditation If I but touch his clothes, I shall be cured (Mark 5:28) Imagine Jairus grief as he left his home where his daughter lay at the edge of death Imagine the hemorrhaging woman s desperation as she pressed in to touch Jesus garment If only they could find Jesus, they would be spared Jairus pushed through the crowd and fell at Jesus feet, pleading for his daughter s healing The woman quietly reached out in faith And neither one was disappointed This is the same Jesus who has destroyed the hold that death had on all people By his cross, he has won eternal life for all who believe and are baptized in his name What s more, this freedom from death, this fullness of life, is not just for the future We can experience Jesus freedom every day, in any circumstance Why? Because death not only refers to the end of life on the earth; it refers to anything that separates us from our heavenly Father Brothers and sisters, these are awesome truths! They have the power to overcome any sense of resignation or hopelessness that is lingering in our minds We never have to resemble Jairus friends, who said, Why trouble the teacher any longer? (Mark 5:35) It s never a bother when his people cry out to him Our God is good, and he wants to take care of us He went so far as to give up his only Son for us As sons and daughters of God, we have a magnificent inheritance We can know joy and peace in even the most difficult circumstances We can pray with people and see them healed In your prayer today, bow before the feet of Jesus the feet that were pierced for your transgressions and that walked victoriously from the tomb Don t be afraid to touch the hem of his garment Come to him, and let him fill you with his life Father, you delight in doing good Thank you for your Son, who has freed me from everything that leads to death Help me to receive your life today I place my hope and trust in you The Word Among Us To All Parishioners In The Diocese of Springfield In Illinois In honor of Archbishop George J Lucas, I wish to invite all parishioners in the Diocese of Springfield in Illinois to a farewell reception on Thursday, July 16, 2009 The reception will be at Christ the King Parish, 1930 Barberry Drive, Springfield, Illinois We will have evening prayer at 6:30 pm in the Church and the reception following from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm in the parish hall Monsignor Carl Kemme Moderator of the Curia 2009 Picnic News The picnic worker s list has been mailed out When you receive it, please review it for you and your family s picnic jobs If you do not receive a copy or if your names are not on the list, please give us a call If you will not be able to work your shift, PLEASE switch with someone or call the chairman of your stand Also, items will be needed for the Country Store/Fancy Work Stand Even though the picnic is just around the corner, there is still time to work on crafts Any type of fancy work, wood crafted items, fresh garden produce, baked goods, jams and jellies, outdoor plants, bulbs, etc will be very much appreciated Please call the chairmen of the stand: Darlene Buehnerkemper or Diane Siemer if you need an item picked up, or bring it to the stand very early on the day of the picnic And don t forget to pick up those mystery boxes for the mystery box stand when you see a bargain while out shopping Thank you Correction to Picnic Worker s List Flour & Fry Chicken at K-C Hall Chairmen: Ron & Barb Zerrusen Co-Chairmen: Jeff & Jane Sudkamp Randy and Deb Koester are not chairmen this year Sorry for any inconvenience which may have occurred Cake boxes are available at all entrances to the church All ladies of the parish are asked to bring 2 pies or cakes to the KC Hall on the morning of our church picnic

He smiled and said, Just take them everywhere you go Again I asked, Really now, how much do I owe? My child, he said, God paid your bill a long, long time ago Answer: St Ignatius of Antioch, bishop and martyr, was martyred in Rome sometime between 98 AD and 117 AD His feast day is October 17
