August 12, 2018 The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a Holy Day of Obligation for all Catholics, will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 15 th. Masses for the holy day will be at 8:00 A.M., 12 Noon and 7:00 P.M. Please plan to attend. The Mass Book for 2019 is now open. The offering is $10.00 for the Sunday community mass and all weekday masses, and $20.00 for all individual weekend masses. Registered parishioners may reserve up to two masses on weekends and two masses on weekdays until all requests are filled. 4 Diocese of Fall River Youth and Youth Education Faith Formation The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few Luke 10:2 With the beginning of Religious Education fast approaching, we are still in need of teachers for grades 3, 5 and 7. We are also in need of one more teacher for both Confirmation I & II. All that is required is willingness to share your faith and love of God with the youth of our parish. PLEASE consider volunteering for this important ministry. For further information or questions regarding this ministry, please contact Dave Beaulieu at the Parish Office. CHILDREN S LITURGY OF THE WORD (CLOW): This ministry involves participants to share the Word of God with children preschool through Grade 3. Children are blessed during the Sunday 10:30AM morning Mass and are sent forth with adult leaders to the Memorial Chapel. Using approved texts that follow the same readings that adults share on each Sunday, the children listen and respond to the Word of God. They listen to an ageappropriate homily by one of the adult team members. They join the assembly for the Liturgy of the Eucharist. We are looking to form a team of Adults to lead our young people. NEW ALTAR SERVER TRAINING Tom Leman, our new altar sever coordinator, will be training a new class of altar servers after each weekend mass on August 18 & 19 in the church. Any boy/girl who has made his or her First Communion is eligible to serve. All current altar servers are also asked to attend to refresh and learn some new procedures of serving Mass. They too are asked to stay after the mass they have attended on August 18/19. 5 One of our parishioners, Dolores Rodrigues, will be travelling to Fatima in October. She will be visiting the Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima. CPR TRAINING CLASS: We are mindful of the need to care for one another. When someone is suddenly ill or has a medical incident, first responders are summoned, but minutes matter. We have upgraded our defibrillator, but it is also important for some parishioners to know how to use the equipment and know CPR and basic first aid. On Monday, August 27 from 1-3PM in the Fr. Unsworth Hospitality Center, a First Aid CPR AED class will be held for the teachers of All Saints Catholic School. We have room for 20 more, participants, so any parishioner wishing to learn or recertify their training is invited to attend. Please notify the parish office before August 23rd if you plan on attending. There is no charge for parishioners to become certified, as you might be the lifesaver of a fellow parishioner in need. Any nurse, first responder or others who are already certified, please notify the office so a database can be developed and we know who to turn to in a time of a medical incident. A Parish Emergency Plan is also being developed in the event of any Medical, Fire, Weather Emergency or Intruders in our facilities. SERVICE IS THE PRICE WE PAY FOR BEARING THE
