This greeting is informal, personal, and welcoming. Microphones are not on for this ritual act. The bride and groom are acknowledged and affirmed by the hurch. They are about to celebrate a great sacrament. Jesus hrist is the bridegroom, as this man assumes to be the groom to his bride; and the hurch is the bride, as this woman assumes the role of bride to her husband. 3 FROM THE DESK OF FATHER BOB It is hard to believe that there are families in our area who have very little or nothing to eat. This is especially difficult on weekends when the local food kitchen and pantry are not open. There are parishioners who are involved in a program Feed Our Little Jays whose goal is to provide food to ten of these families each weekend during the school year when their children do not have access to the school lunch program. Our parish donated $1,000 from our Good Friday Fish Fry this past Lent and our D students donated $ during the past year s religious education program to assist those involved in the worthy cause. This fall we will have little containers in the vestibule of each worship site every weekend where you can place any spare change or an extra dollar to help fund this project for the school year. Most of us will never miss that dollar or loose change each week but so many will benefit from this program this new school year. Please be mindful of this need and that loose change can make a big difference in the lives of these ten families. Your support is greatly appreciated. Thank you! We still have some tickets available for the Pirate game that we will be attending on Tuesday, July 18th. If you would like to join us for this annual excursion, it is really a very enjoyable evening. ost is $47.00 which includes game ticket and bus transportation. We have begun to advertise in the area church bulletins. all the parish office as soon as possible to see if we still have tickets available. Summer Vacation Bible School will be starting the week of August 7th. This is always a fun week and by that time children are bored with summer, often complaining that they have nothing to do. We will begin to advertise for this event in the coming weeks with more information but we want you to save that week for your children so as to be able for them to attend. 12 th Sunday in Ordinary Time HOSPITALIZED Patricia Vogel Toppy O Leary PLEASE, if you have a loved one admitted to the hospital or nursing home contact the office. The hospital may take your church information, but we are not always notified. Fr. Bob likes to get to the hospital in a timely manner, but cannot if he doesn t know. Thanks for your help. PRAYER HAIN Do you know someone who needs prayers? Please contact Debbie Washington at or dlwashi@hotmail.com to place a name on the parish Prayer hain! Boxes for requests are also located in the vestibules of our worship sites. PRAYERFUL REMEMBRANE FOR ALL SERVING IN THE MILITARY Ryan Wood, Army; Nathan Brezovic; Fr. Frantisek Halka, Army; Major David Dietz, Army; Petty Officer Tony Pinkas, Navy; Second Infantry Brigade & Det 1, ompany, 2nd 104th; Seaman Marina Joy Sumrada, Naval Medicine Training enter Please contact the parish office ( ) if we need to add or remove any of our military personnel from this list. Thank you. Even all the hairs of your head are counted. So do not be afraid. an it really be true? Is our heavenly Father actually so aware of us? Does the reator of the universe pay that much attention to me? Jesus says yes. God knows us far more intimately than we even know ourselves. And so, we have nothing to fear. Being hristian isn t guaranteed to be easy. More and more even in our own culture, following the faith is being criticized and discouraged in the public square. Privately, we may struggle with the demands of the commandments or the ability to believe when we face the inevitable trials that come our way. But passages like this one in today s Gospel are a source of tremendous hope and consolation. We are loved beyond measure. We enjoy the care and concern of God in every situation, big and small. Truly we have no need to worry or be anxious because God is in control. For our part, of course, Jesus asks us to trust him and stay faithful. He asks us not to apologize for our faith, especially publicly. Everyone who acknowledges me before others I will acknowledge before my heavenly Father. When we live our faith with confidence, it s a way of accepting the power and providence of God. But when we try to hide our faith away because we re afraid of causing problems, we only damage our relationship with the One who can actually solve them. At the end of the day, the only really serious problem we need to worry about is losing our soul and that, to be sure, is up to us. As the great French novelist Léon Bloy wrote, There is only one tragedy in the end: not to have been a saint atholic Ministries Drive Please note the 2017 atholic Ministries is taking the place of the Annual atholic Appeal. 4 Families & the Gospel June 25 Mt. 10:26-33 Jesus says, Do not be afraid three times in today s gospel and reminds us all concealed secrets will be revealed. Do not be afraid to acknowledge problems in your family. If they remain hidden in darkness they will destroy the body and soul.
