We practice this work of mercy when we offer assurance to those around us about life decisions, faith, and other matters. Also, mercy moves us to seek out such assurance from a friend, spouse, and spiritual director. This work of mercy moves us to help our fellow travelers on the journey of faith to keep themselves oriented toward holiness. We have each been given a summons to love; it is our call to holiness. This call is offered to everyone; learning to hear this summons and understand it is the key to being less doubtful. Like a shepherd who watches over his flock, our loving Lord assures us of his mercy. Like the shepherd, we assure others of God s mercy. Be Merciful, Bill Huebsch, 2016 Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown S In your prayers please remember ISABELLE C. LUX Mother to Lou Ann Partsch; who died recently. May she rest in peace. 3 FROM THE DESK OF FATHER BOB It seems that since the beginning of 2016, no ma er how hard I try, I can t seem to get anything accomplished. Kristen, the parish secretary, also feels the same. My good inten ons never come to frui on. I will once again a empt to begin my visits to the sick and homebound of our parish this coming week. It has literally been months since I have seen the majority of those parishioners. Please don t give up hope, for like the arrival of Spring this year, I will get there soon. I would like to express my deep apprecia on for the generous response last weekend for the Goller family. We collected $1, to help defray the cost of Tammy s extended stay at the hospital in Pi sburgh. As a parish, we are also planning a bingo/basket party in the Daisytown church hall on Sunday, May 15th to help with what must be a tremendous expense. Please con nue to pray for Tammy. She has pulled through so many close calls and her faith has never wavered. She is such an inspira on for me as well. A miracle would be wonderful but whatever God has in His plans for her life, His will be done! On a lighter note, hopefully Spring will arrive and stay with us. We would also like to slow down the pace a bit here in the parish over the next few months. My anxiety level is very high and I am hoping for a quiet summer to recover and relax. I have no plans other than a few day trips here and there. My therapy is doing a li le gardening, reading, and si ng on the balcony in the evening. People o en ask why I don t take a vaca on for a week or two. Truthfully, I have no desire to do that and enjoy being at home with Barnabas. My travel days are over, other than my trips to Pi sburgh for shows, most of which I missed during this past year because of bad weather or unexpected situa ons that arose which needed my a en on. Maybe my luck will change in the coming months. We also have some important events coming up in the near future such as First Communion and Gradua ons, Mother s Day and Father s Day, our baseball excursion to Pi sburgh which is always an enjoyable evening but response has not been as good in the past. Perhaps it is too early in the season to make that commitment but it really is a very nice evening if Mother Nature cooperates. We s ll have the three seats for Sight and Sound. The new show this season is Samson and all who have a ended in the past look forward to that excursion. If you belong to the parish you will know most of us on that trip and if you don t belong, we will make you feel welcome. Give it a try, you might just like it! PARISH COUNCIL MEETING: April 21st 7:15PM/RB Concerns, sugges ons or ques ons about the life of our parish community should be given to any council member so that the items might be placed on the agenda.
