FORTNIGHT FOR FREEDOM HOLY HOUR The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops will once again sponsor a Fortnight for Freedom from this Sunday, June 21 to July 4. The theme is "Freedom to Bear Witness." In observance of the Fortnight, Bishop Mark Bartchak will preside at a Holy Hour this Thursday, June 25 at 7:00 p.m. at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament in Altoona. The Holy Hour will include Evening Prayer, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, and a homily from the Bishop. All are invited to join Bishop Bartchak and others in prayer for the preservation of our religious liberty. ST. JOHN S HOLY HOUR: We will have a special Holy Hour on Friday evening, July 3rd, from 7:00-8:00 PM in the church. We will have Exposition and Benediction, some communal prayers and quiet time to pray for the USA on the eve of Independence Day. Please try to come and join us. CONCERNING MASS INTENTIONS: It is certainly a blessing and a sign of good spiritual health when a parish gets as many Mass intentions as we do! However, with only one priest and the amount we are getting, we need to start limiting spots for the remainder of the year! (Yes, we are that booked!) So, please keep this in mind that we really can not do repeat intentions at this time. We need to be able to accommodate any future deaths in the parish. Therefore, these adjustments will go into effect for the remainder of 2015: After the one year anniversary of someone s death, we must limit requested intentions to three masses for the remainder of the year! Intentions can only be accepted for deceased souls, no longer for any general type of intentions. Unsaid Masses by the end of the year must be shipped out along with your stipends to either the missions or to Mt. St. Mary s Seminary to be said by the priests at these locations. VINCENT DE PAUL YOUTH MINISTRY TOURNAMENT It is time for the annual Ravine International Golf Tournament sponsored by St. Vincent de Paul Youth Ministries at the Park Hills Country Club on Saturday, June 27 th. O Malley Fund: $ Fulton County Toy Drive: $ Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary; Peru Mission: $ These totals are in addition to the fundraising that our students do for St. Jude Children s Research Hospital through our annual St. Jude Math-a-Thon and the Diocesan Mission Office through our annual Lenten Boxes. As we mentioned earlier this spring, our students raised $3, and $ respectively for these two organizations. KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS ESSAY CONTEST We are grateful to the Knights of Columbus for sponsoring the recent essay contest for 4 th & 5 th grade students. The winners were Erin Cronin and Isaac Dechow, who each received $100 from the Knights of Columbus. Congratulations to Erin and Isaac and thank you to the Knights for their constant support of our school and our students! ST. JOHN SCHOOL PICNIC was held on Sunday, May 31 at DelGrosso Amusement Park. It was a day filled with good food and much fun. Thank you to the Home & School Association for the planning and sponsoring of this event. Thanks also to Leana Topper and Brian & Sharon Yangula for handing our the wristbands to our students and families, Tanya Packer for setting up, Chad Packer for grilling the hot dogs and the many families that helped with clean up following the luncheon. FUNDING FACTORY If you have any used HP, Lexmark, Dell, Cannon and/or Sharp ink jet cartridges for recycling, please send them to our school by the end of June. We will be discontinuing this fundraiser at the conclusion of this school year. The

Many of the cartridges we ship are listed by the Funding Factory to be damaged and therefore, not eligible for recycling monies. Thanks to everyone who has participated in this fundraiser through the years. LAST CALL: OLV BASEBALL BUS TRIP SCHEDULED Join the OLV Parish trip to the Pittsburgh Pirates. We will attend the Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Atlanta Braves Baseball Game this Saturday, June 27 at 4:05 PM. We will leave the OLV Church Parking lot at 1:00 PM. CATHOLIC DAUGHTERS GABRIELLE PROJECT DIAPER DRIVE The Catholic Daughters are reminding everyone that there is still a need for more diapers for the Gabrielle Project. The Gabriel Project is a Pro-Life movement offering parish-based pastoral care to women, supplying their practical needs as well as offering unconditional love. The NEW box is located up the steps to the LEFT as you enter the church (near the old confessional). If you are able to help, your diaper donations are greatly appreciated. JustFaith changed my perspective on social justice issues and I was privileged to learn from and get to know on a deeper level some special members of our parish.
