Please call the rectory office to make arrangements. Sacrament of Marriage: Couples planning to marry are to make arrangements at least nine months prior to their wedding date. Diocesan Guidelines regarding Marriage Preparation must be followed. The Catholic party/parties is/are to be registered, active members in the parish. Anointing of the Sick: Please call the church office if you have a family member or friend in the hospital who would like to receive the Sacraments. The homebound and parishioners in nursing homes should also receive the Sacrament of the Sick and Holy Communion. Parish Membership: New members are always welcome! 3 FROM THE DESK OF FATHER BOB We began our new fiscal year on July 1, Our parish finance committee and I express sincere thanks to all who contribute through the offertory envelopes each week. Our projected operating budget is approximately $310,000. Through our parish fund-raising events we are able to bring in about $70,000 of that amount from outside the parish. The remainder of that amount must come from the Sunday collection envelopes. This coming week all registered parishioners will be receiving a letter with further details. Enclosed will be a separate sheet 2015/2016 Annual Giving Commitment which we are asking you to complete and return to the parish office either by mail or through the Sunday collection. Our concern is not with the special collections throughout the year but with the weekly Sunday envelope. If we could increase the weekly Sunday offering, the fund-raisers could be used as a source for improvements and needed repairs of the various buildings and church grounds. It would also enable us to know in advance what are projected income from the offertory collection would amount to in any given year. Unfortunately we do have a rather large number of parishioners who do not use their offertory envelopes at all or only sporadically. This makes it difficult to plan ahead with needed improvements such as a new roof on the hall in Daisytown or unexpected repairs that may be needed. Like any household, you determine beforehand what improvements can be made to your home/property by the amount of your yearly income. This would also be true of our parish family. If you are able to increase your weekly offering by a few dollars that would certainly be appreciated. If you are not currently contributing to the parish on a regular basis or not at all, we would simply ask you to consider what you might be able to give according to your family budget. We ask you to return these forms either through the mail or the Sunday collection within the next two weeks. There is also a section for indicating an interest in our parish ministries or a willingness to help with our current fund-raising events. We call ourselves a parish family and we do want and need you to help make us that city on a hill that would make others want to become members of our family as well. We need YOU! Outdoor Mass honoring Married Couples with Bishop Mark The Altoona-Johnstown Diocesan Family is invited to participate and to pray for those living the Sacrament of Marriage at an Outdoor Mass honoring Married Couples on Sunday evening, August 2 at 7:00 pm at the Shrine of Our Lady of the Alleghenies in Loretto. Bring a lawn chair. Indoors if rain. Bishop Mark is the celebrant and homilist. This is a wonderful way to celebrate, encourage and support married couples! Come early, bring food and picnic together. Singers needed for the choir. One rehearsal at 6:00 before the Mass. Whether you are an alum a ending to connect with former classmates and other alums or a student who needs service hours, we can find a job for you. Just volunteering 1 2 hours during the event will s ll you give you me to enjoy the ac vi es and will give us a break during the evening. We need volunteers to help with check in and registra on, sell beer and other beverages (must be 18 to work the beer wagon), paint faces, take pictures, sell Spirit Wear, decorate and set up, and clean up.
