3 WORSHIP NEWS Contact: Wayne Efferson, Worship Leader x206 or Do not be afraid; from now on you will be catching men. Isaiah s prophetic call is mysterious: God s smoky and glorious presence in the sanctuary, with the seraphim crying out as we do in the eucharistic prayer, Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Peter, James and John were called from much more mundane circumstances: hauling in fish. We are all called from where we are: Follow the Lord, and proclaim his risen presence. Like Paul, we are called to receive this summons and live our lives in response to it. TAIZE PRAYER will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 20 at 6:30 PM (Chapel). Taize (pronounced-- Teh-ZAY) is an ecumenical, peaceful way to pray, using easy to learn musical chants, silent meditation, and scripture readings a meditative, common prayer. Gathered in faith, Christians come together to sing uncomplicated repetitive short songs, like breath prayers, uncluttered by too many words, allowing the mystery of God to become tangible through the beauty of the Spirit in its simplicity. A few words sung over and over again (mantra) reinforce the meditative quality of prayer. They express a basic reality of faith that can quickly be grasped by the intellect, and will gradually penetrate the whole being. For in-depth information visit Also, Old St. Joe s Parish at SNC offers TAIZE every fourth Wednesday of the month at 7:00 PM. READINGS FOR THE WEEK OF FEBRUARY 10 Sunday: Is 6:1-2a, 3-8/Ps 138:1-2, 2-3, 4-5, 7-8 [1c]/1 Cor 15:1-11 or 15:3-8, 11/Lk 5:1-11 Monday: Gn 1:1-19/Ps 104:1-2a, 5-6, 10 and 12, 24 and 35c [31b]/Mk 6:53-56 Tuesday: Gn 1:20 2:4a/Ps 8:4-5, 6-7, 8-9 [2ab]/ Mk 7:1-13 Wednesday: Gn 2:4b-9, 15-17/Ps 104:1-2a, 27-28, Thursday: WE NEED YOU TO RUN THIS! Do you like to work behind the scenes? Then maybe this is a volunteer/ministry opportunity that will suit you. It s been three years since we debuted our Multi-Media Video Projection System and since then we have heard how much more the assembly is participating at Mass, both in singing and in praying. Many have said that this technology is a wonderful addition to our celebration of the Eucharist. Currently, we have four dedicated operators who have covered every Mass since October and they now need your help. We need a minimum of 12 video volunteers/ministers so WON T YOU HELP? You don t have to be a techy person to operate this system. If you know your way around a computer you will be a great fit. Contact Wayne at natwe@nativityparish.com, x bc-30 [1a]/Mk 7:14-23 Gn 2:18-25/Ps 128:1-2, 3, 4-5 [cf. 1a]/ Mk 7:24-30 Friday: Gn 3:1-8/Ps 32:1-2, 5, 6, 7 [1a]/Mk 7:31-37 Saturday: Gn 3:9-24/Ps 90:2, 3-4abc, 5-6, [1]/ Mk 8:1-10 Next Sunday: Jer 17:5-8/Ps 1:1-2, 3, 4, 6 [40:5a]/ 1 Cor 15:12, 16-20/Lk 6:17, YOUR HELP IS NEEDED The Worship Ministry really needs your assistance with preparing our worship space for the celebration of Mass through the ministry of Church Helper. On any given week there are at least 1500 worshippers who come through our church doors to celebrate the Eucharist (Mass). With all those worshippers comes a messy pew e.g. songbooks, pew cards not properly stored in the hymnal racks and/or bulletins and trash left in the pew after Mass. This ministry attends to these items along with cleaning the altar candles and holy water bowls at the entrances. Currently we have two groups of three/four volunteers; we d like to create another group so WON T YOU HELP? This is a wonderful, simple and fulfilling ministry (volunteer) experience that is flexible and doesn t require much time, while giving you a sense of creating a spirit of hospitality for those who come to celebrate the Mass. Contact Wayne Efferson, Worship Leader at x206 or natwe@nativityparish.com. ATTENTION LITURGICAL MINISTERS The Winter/Spring Liturgical Ministers Schedule (February 3-May 26) is currently in place. If you did not get yours via our website or a hardcopy from the Gathering Space please contact Wayne Efferson, Worship Leader x206, natwe@nativityparish.com.
