OUTREACH Thanks to all who participated in the recent request from St. John s Episcopal Hospital for much-needed Back to School items and Baby items. We had a tremendous response! Your generosity is very much appreciated. Visiting other churches while on vacation, I noticed that they all seem to have information in the back of the church about the activities and projects that are going on. We also do a lot here at Trinity, but there is currently no way for a visitor to know about it. Where could we post such information? Thinking about this while walking through the Fireplace room, I noticed the bulletin boards there. The Childcare Center parents and any visitors who come to coffee hour or pass through this room will see anything posted there. I pulled together a summary on our Outreach Committee and pictures of the choir room floor project, along with information about other organizations that we work with, such as Camp DeWolfe and the Long Island Council of Churches (LICC) to get the display started. Mary LaSala & Joann Gentile for the Outreach Committee FROM THE WARDENS With Margo on a well-deserved sabbatical and no vestry meetings for the summer, you might be surprised to learn that there is still a lot going on. Of course the Childcare Center is always busy, Outreach has projects underway and many from the parish spent two Saturday mornings working on our choir room project (read all about it in Martha s article). Going forward, we ll add information about the altar guild, Burning Books, parish trips, our upcoming concert, and the work that Doreen Banks is doing to find grant money for the needed sanctuary floor repairs. If you have any information you would like to see on the bulletin board or any pictures we could post, please me at helenoehrlein@gmail.com. The longer term goal is to find a way to share what is going on with anyone who visits our church building. If you have any ideas as to how we might do this, let s talk! Helen Oehrlein

PARISH HAPPENINGS The Childcare Center had a booth at the popular Harborfest in Port Washington in June Margo & Pam Crosby, former parishioner, back for a HS reunion JJ Price, Lila & Ian Frame, and Julia Price singing on Trinity Sunday Sarane Ross reading the lessons New sign combining Trinity Church & Childcare Center

Dear Trinitarians, First, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks and gratitude to all who prayed and offered good wishes during my illness and surgery. I m told that the surgery was successful, and I do indeed feel pretty good. I look forward to a year of growth both personally and professionally. I m hoping the Center is at full capacity by next summer (can t make promises, but I have good feelings for the upcoming school year). Second, our Infant class is at full capacity (8) and we have a waiting list. Our Twaddler class (18 months to 3 years), toddler class (3 years to 4years), and pre-school (4 years through 5 years) are growing. Three infants are moving into our Twaddler classroom this September, bringing the total twaddler class to 7 (two- part time and 5 full time). Our Toddler class is at 5 with three part-timers and two full-timers. We have 1 four year old who will remain in the toddler class where she will receive, for the most part, a one on one education. This is the first year we will be sharing the playground with the Roslyn Trinity Co-Op and look forward to a smooth transition of cooperation with our neighbors. ALL SAINTS DAY BRUNCH We will have more to tell you in December when the next issue of Trinity Bells is published. Thank you again for your support. With Warm Regards, Marie Catalano-Gruen, Director Trinity Episcopal Church Roslyn Childcare Center Trinitychild.org Please plan to join us on Sunday, November 5 after the 10:00 service for our annual All Saints Day Brunch. More info to follow.

BURNING BOOKS Burning Books will meet again Thursday, Sept. 28, 7:30 pm, at our home, 105 Harbor Lane, Roslyn Harbor. (originally scheduled for Sept 18) The book selected as the long summer read is Ron Chernow's Alexander Hamilton, the inspiration for the Broadway hit musical. This 731 page best selling book has been described by fellow writer Joseph Ellis as "A robust, full - length portrait, in my view, the best ever written of the most brilliant, charismatic, and dangerous Founder of them all." As always, all interested readers are welcome. Jean Henning CATHEDRAL TOUR Established in 1876 as a memorial to, and mausoleum for, Alexander Turney Stewart, the building is an imposing example of Gothic Revival architecture. On Sat., Aug. 5, a group of Trinity parishioners were treated to a tour of our very own Cathedral of the Incarnation in Garden City, the seat of the Episcopal Diocese of Long Island.. Thanks, Karl, for organizing this great outing! I wonder where you will lead us to next?

MUSIC NOTES Exciting times were had at Trinity Church this past summer. Many thanks to Ariann Forella for covering the music needs so beautifully when I was out of town, and to Ken for taking over on Labor Day weekend. Our soloists added so much to the services. Thanks to Ariann, Kathy, Ken, and Helen for their singing. It was my personal joy to spend a good amount of time practicing our lovely organ in our beautiful sanctuary. Often I was working late in the afternoon when the inspiring west windows were at their most glorious. Somehow it felt like all the beloved Trinitarians past, present, and future were there with me. (Additional note: spending so much time at Trinity allowed me to really get to know our wonderful Parish Administrator, Ronit. Not only did we get a lot accomplished together, but it was most enjoyable!) SAVE THE DATE October 29th at 4:00 pm - Celebration of Hymns Help Trinity develop a library of musical communications to be used on our website throughout the church year. As we move into this new culture of social media and help people connect to our lovely church we need to develop materials. On October 29 at 4 PM we will create recordings of our of favorite hymns of all the church seasons. It will be a wonderful afternoon of music making and result in a great deal of outreach. Please come and be part of the fun! Martha Regelmann I am also planning to work on music with the Church School children, with some help from choir members, at the the usual Sunday morning church school time. The hope is that they can be part of the October 29 hymn and social media session, if that fits in with Margo's plans (see Celebration of Hymns below)..new FLOOR!!! The big news is the completion of a two-year project that resulted in what feels like a complete transformation of the room formerly used exclusively by the choir and now ready to also host parish meetings and other activities. From Margo's approval of the project, through generous monetary donations, Helen and Ken working tirelessly to research and collect materials and arrange for installation, many volunteer helpers moving heavy items, the joyous dedication by Fr. Drew on August 20th, and the cutting down and reinstallation of the doors by Bill Holzkamp, it has been a great collaborative effort. Now we are truly looking forward to all the activities that will grace this exciting space. Many thanks to everyone! Moving out crew- Dawn Weill, Martha Regelmann, Laura Kavanagh, Helen Oehrlein, Mike Callahan, Drew Frame, Tommy Cammisa, Jay Luty, Ken Bongort, and Annabelle Luty Workers starting to install new floor
