Next Sunday, Sept 23, What We Leave Behind The children entering first grade this year will graduate high school in We are stewards not only of this earth, but also stewards of this congregation for our children and their children. What is the legacy of First Church? What can we do today to build a healthy congregation that will be here for our children and future generations? Sunday Morning Volunteer Program (MVP) Team Three is handling the duties of greeting, ushering, providing coffee service and clean-up today. Team Three is led by Linda Miltner. She is joined by Gabe Conley, Ruth Cooper, Barbara Homlar, Jack Niehaus, Denise Olden, Jean Phillips, Ann Retford, Alice Schneider, and Fran Turner. TODAY Today in Sunday School your PreK and Kindergartner will learn our first principle Each Person is Important. Your first-third grader will discuss the importance of rules in sports and in life. Then they will create a class covenant. And, the fourth - fifth grader will learn about the Jewish High Holy Days and create a class covenant. Upstairs, the Junior High and Senior High will host a guest speaker Jennifer Zavon has just returned from travels abroad and will talk with the youth about what she learned. All members are encouraged to come and hear an update on how the church is doing. If you are a member of First Church, but have not yet attended a congregational meeting, you may establish your voting rights for voting at future congregational meetings by attending this meeting. You will be asked to sign-in at this meeting to verify your attendance. Childcare will be available for this meeting. Please RSVP for childcare no later than Friday, Sept. 21 to Ginny Casey-Leininger or Sun., Sept. 30, 11:30 a.m. All are invited to join the Peace Committee for a Kurdish lunch and speaker. The speaker will focus on the history of his people who were divided by the borders drawn after WWI placing them in four different countries, the political complications, and the terrorization they are now suffering. Ann Black Sun., Oct 28 4 p.m. - Mark your calendar now for Reverend Connie Simon s installation! This joyous occasion will mark First Church s commitment to our new minister. We are especially fortunate that former First Church member and UUA president Rev. William Sinkford will be present. A reception will follow. Stay tuned for more details. You won t want to miss this!
