Please call the rectory at to set up an appointment with a Priest. First time parents and godparents are required to attend a Baptism Preparation Session. Only when Certificates of Eligibility from godparents are presented, then a date for the baptism can be set. The Baptism Preparation Sessions are held the first Sunday of the month at 12:30 PM in the Upper Church, with registration required. To register, please call the parish secretary during regular business hours (Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM). Registration must be made prior to the last Friday of the month. If no registrations are received, a session may not be held. 2 As we welcome our new Music Director, Tim Reilly, we also express our gratitude to our interim organist, Maleita Olson. Maleita has filled in generously and beautifully these last several months and we are very grateful. On this Father's Day we salute all fathers and thank God for the great gift they are and have been to us examples of faith and love, protectors, providersmen who have worked and sacrificed so much for our well-being. May Our Lord reward their goodness!! Next Sunday is the Feast ofthe Body and Blood of Christ-the gift of Jesus Himself, among us and for us. Immediately following the 11:30 AM Mass, we will have a Eucharistic Procession outside of church, ending with Benediction of the Most Blessed Sacrament on the balcony in front of Church. Please join us for this brief ceremony - it is a great way to honor, praise and give thanks to our Eucharistic Lord. 4 FROM THE PASTOR'S DESK J can get sloppy about the Sign of the Cross. I don't always begin my mealtime grace or other prayers with it. I sometimes don't think about what I'm saying. But the Sign of the Cross is the sign of the Most Holy Trinity, Whom we celebrate today. Back in my seminary days, Father Murray would start his class with the Sign of the Cross and then say THAT was the prayer. The Sign of the Cross is not just a preface to other prayers, it IS a prayer. As we pray this prayer, we recall the loving care of our Father, Who "so loved the world that He gave His only Son" as St. John's Gospel says. We remember the crucifixion of Our Lord, Who died "that the world might be saved through Him." We call on "the fellowship of the Holy Spirit" to be with us. It was said that when sinners or non-catholics saw St. Bernadette, to whom Our Lady of Lourdes appeared, make the Sign of the Cross, they would be converted. In the meantime, the bills and necessary expenses to carry on the parish can continue during the summer and must be paid. The Solution - You plan ahead for your vacation and make reservations and send deposits for your hotel and other accommodations. In the same way, why not put the offerings for the weeks you will be away in the offertory basket before you leave? Then you can enjoy your vacation knowing that the mission and ministry of the parish can continue unhindered as you enjoy your time of relaxation. He 024 3
