Please call the rectory at to set up an appointment with a Priest. First time parents and godparents are required to attend a Baptism Preparation Session. Only when Certificates of Eligibility from godparents are presented, then a date for the baptism can be set. The Baptism Preparation Sessions are held the first Sunday of the month at 12:00 PM in the Upper Church, with registration required. To register, please call the parish secretary during regular business hours (Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM). Registration must be made prior to the last Friday of the month. If no registrations are received, a session may not be held. The 2016 Catholic Charities Appeal: A NEW VISION continues to build on last year's success and reach out to the entire Catholic community of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. Our generous donations can help so many people in need; the hungry, through the Community Food Program of Nutritional Development Services; young people with disabilities through schools of special education; immigrants through the Office of Cultural Ministries; couples preparing for marriage through the Office for Life and Family; families in need through mission parishes in underserved areas; and retired and sick priests. I was more generous in my donation this year and I hopeyou will be too. 4 FROM THE PASTOR'S DESK In my favorite movie and play, "A Man for All Seasons", r St. Thomas More warns the ambitious and greedy young Richard Rich: A person should go where he won't be tempted. And yet, not even Our Lord could follow that great advice. For we see in today's Gospel that the:] Holy Spirit led Him out into the desert and there He was tempted by satan, It could be said that His final preparation for public ministry was a private retreat - a time spent with the Father. But that didn't mean it was a period without its own trials. like us, He had to deal with temptation. There are so many inducements to sin around us in our everyday lives: advertisements telling us constantly that this world is more important than God; the desire to look good in the eves of the world by having lots of money and possessions; the lure of power and sex; our desire to get angry, or get even, or control another person; or be self-righteously proud of ourselves and our achievements: or envious of others; or filled with self-pity. His help. But like Our Lord, we don't have to give in and compromise with evil or selfishness. We can have All we need to do is ask for it. Let us ask Our lord to save us in our times of trial. Scott Thomson, who has received national recognition for the fantastic reversal of crime in the city of Camden. First presentation is called: "The day the Shroud Foiled Hitler", documenting the time when the Shroud was secretly taken out of Turin to keep it away from Hitler. The next presentation is called "The Seven secrets of the Sacred Shroud" and will look at seven reasons why the Shroud is most likely the authentic burial cloth of Jesus. Both presentations will be presented by international expert Russ Breault. RESPECTLIFE NEWS Thank you to everyone who brought luminaries to place on their curb the night before the March for Life. The net result of the sale was $855 for Holy Cross, Saint Francis of Assisi and Saint Kevin's parishes. The results will be split three ways amonq the group so each parish earned $285 for the event. With Christ, the priest sets out into the deep in search of humankind. The spiritual journey of the priest leads him down many roads to various ministries in the life of God's family on earth. You have experienced this priestly ministry in your own lives in so many ways. The priest gives up his own personal life to take up the life of Christ for God's people. Now, many priests depend on you for your loving care and support. Villa Saint Joseph in Darby, Regina Coeli in Warminster, and various other health care facilities provide a home and health care for those priests who are retired or in ill health and are no longer able to serve in active ministry. now depend on your prayerful and financial support.
