2 HOLY REDEEMER CATHOLIC CHURCH, COLLEGE PARK, MD The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity Happy Trinity Sunday! In today's Gospel, we hear Jesus declare together all three Persons of the Trinity. "Go therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit." When we speak of the Trinity, two different theological words are sometimes used: immanent and economic. The immanent Trinity is the life of the three Persons within themselves, the inner harmonious relationship between Father, Son, and Spirit. We see this in the Gospels when Jesus speaks of his Father and promises to send the Holy Spirit. The term "economic" has its roots in the Greek word oikonomia, roughly meaning "household management." The economic Trinity is our three-personed God's relationship with creation; it is creation and redemption and ongoing relationship with us. Made in the image and likeness of God, we are called to imitate God's immanence by giving and receiving love with one another in community. However, this is not limited only to those close to us, though that's where love often starts. We also imitate the economy of God when we go out, when we extend our love and care in a life-giving way. Every believer is sent on mission. Every believer is invited to follow Jesus and the Apostles "to the nations," to the margins, to the people who require a little extra reach. This could be a distant relative, the residents of your local homeless shelter or even the forgotten neighbor next door! When we love well, we create something beautiful-a relationship, a holy moment, a foretaste of heaven. This Trinity Sunday, take some time to examine the relationships in your life. How well do you love those nearest to you? How well do you reach out to those farther away? How are you creating something beautiful? We Welcome Our Summer Seminarian, Isaac Sagastume! My name is Isaac Sagastume. I am a seminarian for the Archdiocese of Washington at the Redemptoris Mater Seminary in Hyattsville. I was born in Costa Rica, but grew up in Bergenfield, New Jersey. I felt the call to the priesthood after the 2013 World Youth Day to Brazil, a pilgrimage organized by a charism in the Church called the Neocatechumenal Way. The Neocatechumenal Way is an itinerary of Christian formation through which Catholics rediscover the meaning of their baptism. I enjoy running so you might see me around College Park. My extraordinary cooking skill is that I can cook Minute Rice in 58 seconds! I am very happy to be at Holy Redeemer this summer and hope to be able to meet all of you!

3 THE SOLEMNITY OF THE MOST HOLY TRINITY Masses for Fathers in June If you would like to have your father, grandfather, husband, uncle, brother or any other special man in your life remembered during our special series of Masses during the Month of June, please pick up the special Father s Day envelope from the Mezzanine or front entrance of the church, fill it out, and drop it in the collection basket. Names will be added to the Book of Fathers that will be located at the entrance to the church next to the Baptismal Font throughout the month of June. Memorial Day Please note that Morning Mass on Memorial Day, Monday, May 28th, will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. instead of 7:30 a.m. The Holy Redeemer Parish Office and School will be closed on that day. Come Join Cub Scouts Cub Scout Pack 740 will hold a Join Scouting event on Thursday, May 31st at 6:30 p.m. in the Four Seasons Room. Scouting is a wonderful opportunity for boys to learn positive values and skills that will last a lifetime. The Cub Scout program is for boys in Kindergarten through 5th grade and involves a variety of family activities, encourages good behavior, teaches lifelong values and strengthens the bonds of family. Everything that Cub Scouts do contributes to their moral, physical, and intellectual development. Families who join will be eligible to participate in our summer Pack activities. Corpus Christi Adoration & Benediction Please join us on Corpus Christi Sunday, also known as The Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, June 3rd for a Holy Hour following the 10:00 a.m. Mass. Come and spend some quiet time with the Lord, the One who loves you, in quiet prayer before the Blessed Sacrament. We will close with Benediction and the Divine Praises right before the 12:00 noon Mass. Holy Hour For Ordinations On Saturday, June 9th we in the Archdiocese of Washington will celebrate ordinations to the diaconate and then on Saturday, June 16th, we will celebrate the ordinations to the priesthood. Please join us on Wednesday, June 6th from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. for a special Holy Hour for Ordinations here at Holy Redeemer in the church.

5 THE SOLEMNITY OF THE MOST HOLY TRINITY Sing Praise to the Lord! On this Trinity Sunday, the Holy Redeemer Choir is borrowing music from the Orthodox tradition. The "Cherubic Hymn" is the song of the angels sung during every Divine Liturgy. The setting sung at the Sunday 10am Mass is by Dr. Tikey Zes, from the Divine Liturgy in English, and is the traditional text of the Cherubic Hymn: "We who mystically represent the Cherubim, and who sing the thrice holy hymn to the life giving trinity, All cares let us lay aside every care of this life so that we may receive the king of all. Amen. Invisibly escorted by the angelic ranks. Alleluia." Knights of Columbus Summer Camp Registration for the Knights of Columbus Summer Camp has begun! We are preparing for our eighteenth summer in College Park, MD. We offer swim lessons, arts and crafts, games, sports, and free swim at our extensive facility. Please direct any questions to Anne Irwin at (240) or Quo Vadis Camp for High School Young Men From July 15th to 18th at Mount Saint Mary's Seminary in Emmitsburg, MD, the Office of Priest Vocations' annual Quo Vadis Camp is for mature high school age young men who desire to grow in holiness. The four-day camp includes daily Mass, prayer, Eucharistic Adoration, recreation, sports, and fraternity. Bus transportation is available. Fiat Camp for High School Young Women Fiat is Latin for Let it be done. This was Mary s response to the angel Gabriel when she was asked to become the mother of Jesus. Mary was called to live courageously and to give her whole life, and because of her response, she changed the world. At Fiat Camp, young women will be challenged to become fully who they are to embrace the unique gifts given to them by God and to discover the great dignity of their vocation as a woman. For this year's camp for young women who are rising 9th-12th Graders, the Archdiocese of Washington is partnering with the Archdiocese of Baltimore. The camp will be held from July 27th to 29th at Mount St. Mary's University in Emmitsburg, MD, and it includes prayer, talks, discussions with religious sisters, games, and sports.
