Please call the rectory at to set up an appointment with a Priest. First time parents and godparents are required to attend a Baptism Preparation Session. Only when Certificates of Eligibility from godparents are presented, then a date for the baptism can be set. The Baptism Preparation Sessions are held the first Sunday of the month at 12:00 PM in the Upper Church, with registration required. To register, please call the parish secretary during regular business hours (Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM). Registration must be made prior to the last Friday of the month. If no registrations are received, a session may not be held. 4 FROM THE PASTOR'S DESK There was a college student whose grades fell badly after the death of her father. She felt that she must leave school until she could pull herself together. She went to see the dean to tell him. "Fine,II he said. IIMaybethat's the best for you right now. I'd very much like to hear from you often, and if you'll supply me with your address, I'll be glad to keep in touch. II Unexpectedly, the student began to cry. She said: "/ didn't know you cared about me. II "Of course / do," the dean replied, "you're one of my students." We, too, are students. We are disciples. We are students of Jesus Christ. We humans can be very poor at communicating that we love the people around us. Sometimes one spouse actually has to ask: "Doyou love me?" Children devoid of loving attention often resort to bad behavior to find out if their parents really love them. Supervisors and managers can be so intent on seeing that their employees get their tasks accomplished that care is never communicated. At times those around us are as surprised as this student to find that we do care about them. Today's readings can be summed up very easily. God loves us. If we are not convinced of this, it is not God'sfault. The whole of Scripture is about God's love and Hisfaithfulness to us. The crucifixes that hang in our sanctuaries are constant visual reminders of the length God has gone in order to convey Hislove. The very meal we eat at Mass, the Body and Blood of Christ, and Hisreal and true presence in the Blessed Sacrament in the tabernacle, are God~schosen ways of being with us always. And our mothers, whom we honor today, are wonderful expressions of God~sJove,care and concern. We have many rules. We have many "Do's" and "Do not's," which are important. But Christianity is not just about what we must do to be saved. Christianity is about what has been done to save us! God has always been the first One to act. He has never waited for us to come to Him. He has always come to usfirst. Today's readings are another of Our Lord's attempts to say: IIIlove you." Jesus is with us to keep us from stumbling and falling. But if we do, He is still there. HC0243

6 HOL Y CROSS SCHOOL HAPPENINGS Congratulations to our second grade class who received their First Holy Communion on Saturday, May 6. We are so excited for them. We were able to entertain our parents and grandparents with our Disney Magic show on Thursday, May 4. It was a wonderful performance. We have a busy month ahead of us. Our May Procession will take place on Thursday, May 18, at 7:00 PM. We also have our walk-a-then and field day activities coming up as we". Congratulations to our 8 th grader, Angelina Grandizio who was honored at the Springfield Township Loyalty Day Festivities. Her essay on "What Emergency Service Means to Me" was chosen from a" of our 8 th grade entries. Congratulations also goes to Jaskirat Gill whose poster was chosen as one of the top 100 posters in the Drug, Alcohol and Tobacco Awareness Poster Contest. We would also like to extend our thanks to all the Parish organizations that work with our school and support us. Thank you to the Knights of Columbus, Respect Life Committee and the Social Committee for including our school children in your wonderful programs. PREP HAPPENINGS Congratulations to our First Communion Candidates from both PREPand School! They received their First Holy Communion this past Saturday. Please consider donating a case of water for the carnival this year. We will be collecting cases of water after all Masses starting May 20, up until the Carnival start date. If you would like to make a monetary contribution to the carnival, please put it into an envelope marked for Holy Cross Carnival with your name, and drop it into the collection basket during any Mass. For your convenience, there are envelopes available at the church entrances. Any amount is certainly appreciated! Every little donation helps!
