4 Call to Worship Leader: Young or old, slow or fast; tall or small, know-it-alls or eager learners: People: Wonder of wonders! God has called each of us here. Leader: Wrinkled, white-haired, stooped with age; bright-eyed, smooth skinned, leapers of two steps at a time: People: Wonder of wonders! Each of us is made in God's image. Leader: Parents volunteering at school, kids playing tag; workers stocking shelves, retirees planning a trip: People: Wonder of wonder! God also knows the sins we try to hide, even from ourselves. Let us confess to the One who has called us and will make us whole. People: How foolish we are to think we can hide our failings from you, Seeing God. We treat our bodies as trash cans for junk food, not as sanctuaries for your Spirit. We get drunk on the seductions of our society, while daintily sipping at your living water. We doze under the tree of temptation, hoping you won't see us and expect us to get up and follow Jesus. Forgive us, our heart's only Hope. Your grace mends our brokenness, making us whole; your compassion removes our sin, making us new; your voice speaks tenderly to us, silencing our pride; your Love is made human in Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, redeeming our lives.

These were your disciples' names. Women, too, were your disciples, sitting, learning, at your feet. Mary knew your word was precious, even more than food to eat. 8 RESPONSE TO THE WORD Offering We have good news to share with all who feel forsaken and desolate. We have gifts to share with those whose resources are depleted. In those times and places where we cannot give ourselves, we offer our treasure, that others may carry forward and extend our ministry. Let us give in gratitude to God and in response to our neighbors need. 11 What is that Per Capita Envelope in my box of envelopes? Many years ago, the Presbyterian Church wanted to be sure that anyone could come to the meetings of the General Assembly (national church), Synod, and Presbytery. They didn t want to have an elitist church where only the wealthy landowners would meet to make decisions about the government of the church. So they established a small per member fee that each church members would pay to the governing bodies to pay for those gatherings. That was the beginning of per capita. Now per capita pays for legal costs, administrative costs of the national and regional offices, and still the meeting costs of those bodies. Because of per capita, our Presbyterian Church Mission pledge goes for mission work and not for administrative overhead, like many other organizations. Some people call it a tax, which it isn t. Nor is it a franchise fee. It is our church s commitment to make representation equal and administration costs low for mission ventures. We ask that each member (not per family per member) pay $40.00 in addition to your pledge. If you don t, then another church member has to pay for you. Won t you please consider making this donation? Thanks! Your Stewardship and Finance Committee Youth: There is Youth Group this week at 6:30pm -8pm. ALSO, Tomorrow, Monday January 19, for MLK day of service you can meet at the church at 9:30 am to go to the movies to see the movie Exodus. We will then come back after the movie and make casseroles for New Vision. Please bring $10 just for the movie, if you want popcorn or snack bring additional $$. Also, please pack a bag lunch to eat after the movie before we make the casseroles. Please, go on to the Collingswood Presbyterian Youth Group Facebook page to see the pictures of our individual reasons why we are here. 12 Sunday School: Last week in Sunday School we learned about the Epiphany and we did a craft. Today in Sunday School we will discuss Letting our Light Shine and ways to let that happen. Please ask your children about what we discussed in Sunday School We are in need of Sunday School Helpers. Please see Mrs. Kolecki if you would like to help. All dates are available. THANK YOU Thank you to everyone who donated to the Mitten Tree. Together we collected 59 hats, 25 pair of gloves, 7 scarves, 19 pairs of socks and 8 coats. Over the Christmas holiday we collected 770 food items. St. Paul s Food Pantry was very appreciative, donations to the pantry are down since Christmas. Please sign up! If you would like to reserve a special date to dedicate the flowers which are used to decorate the Sanctuary in honor or memory of a loved one, use the book or contact Janis in the church office. The cost is $20 and a bill will be sent directly to you from the florist.

Please be sure to check your slot, you may also have some Christmas cards waiting!! Church Envelopes - The 2015 church envelopes are on the table in the back of the sanctuary. Be sure to pick yours up. If you need envelopes, please see Barbara Bockmann. CPC will be hosting the West Jersey Presbytery Meeting on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. We need help with snacks and assisting that day. If you can help in any way, please contact Lorrie Heuser or Pastor Kate.

14 Deacons Highlights The deacons are busy reaching out to our neighbors in need and caring for our congregation by: Coffee fellowship Time! (yum!!) Creating an hospitable welcome to those coming to church by greeting at the doors of the sanctuary Distributing thanksgiving baskets of food Sending over 300 birthday and special occasion cards assisting with home care needs for a neighbor undergoing chemotherapy Sending flowers to members hospitalized Sending cards to those who are ill or shut-in Working with the IHOC (interfaith homeless outreach council) The board is going to work with other churches to prepare thanksgiving meals which will be delivered to the homes, elderly shut-ins in Camden Visits shut in members with Pastor Kate Supporting the Colls Food pantry with donations We need folks to work with us to: bake or buy sweets or savories for the Sunday fellowship time. mail cards to the members celebrating birthdays and anniversaries Greet or usher on Sunday mornings help with church dinners and kitchen clean up deliver food baskets DONATE COFFEE for the fellowship hour make a contribution to the Deacons fund to pay for flowers Bring food and cleaning products for Colls Food pantry - Coffee, sugar, cooking oil, dish & laundry soap, diapers, granola bars, cookies, sugar free cookies are especially appreciated. ***We especially need people who are willing to drive our elderly members to church.
