4 Call to Worship Leader: The kingdom of God is here, and coming. People: A mustard seed that someone took and sowed in his field; it is the smallest of all the seeds, but when it has grown it is the greatest of shrubs and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and make nests in its branches. Leader: The kingdom of God is here, and coming. People: Yeast that a woman took and mixed in with three measures of flour until all was leavened. Leader: The kingdom of God is here, and coming. People: Treasure hidden in a field, which someone found and hid; then joyfully sells all he has and buys the field. Leader: The kingdom of God is here, and coming. We are called to follow the Christ, but fatigued by the stresses of our lives, we often do not have the energy or enthusiasm. And when we see the Spirit standing with the oppressed and outcast, we too often turn and walk the other way. Creator God, Master of the Universe: have mercy on us; Jesus Christ, Brother and Sister to the poor: have mercy on us; Holy Spirit, Comfort of the broken-hearted: have mercy on us.

6 Sermon: Pearls, Paul, and A Mustard Seed Christopher McNabb, Seminary Student RESPONSE TO THE WORD Affirmation of Faith: Apostle s Creed I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen. Offering What shall we offer as a fitting response to your abounding grace? Will our offerings support a prophet s ministry in our midst and to the world? Will they extend a cup of pure water in a thirsty land and life-sustaining food when there has been no hope? Will they ennoble us for more creative outreach? 11 FROM YOUR DEACONS Its summertime and the kids are home from school that means no more school lunches. St. Paul s Food Pantry has a tremendous need for cold cereal, tuna, canned meat, peanut butter, jelly and mayonnaise. Please place your donations on the table in the back of the church. CPC Directory Don t forget to pick up your copy of the new Summer CPC Directory. There are several copies in each mail slot in the mail box outside of the lounge. Officers, yours are in your office mailbox. Thank you! Please check the flower book in the Narthex and sign up to dedicate the flowers in the church to honor, or in memory of, a loved one. Flowers are needed for 8/10, 8/31, & 9/28. HELP WANTED! We need help over the hot summer to care for our CPC gardens.
