Killebrew Deacon of the Day: Abby Murray Fellowship Hour Hosts: Jane Trent & Linda Young Flowers: The flowers today are given by Nancy Wainwright and extended family in memory of Laura & Edward Marks. Sunday School Children in Prek-5th grade will be leaving for Sunday School and can be picked up in Calvin Hall following service. This week, the children will be studying Jesus and Levi and how Jesus calls all kinds of people, rich, poor, and even sinners, not the righteous. Last week, the children studied Mark 2:1-12, how Jesus and his four friends helped a paralyzed man. Youth There IS Youth Group tonight. Youth group will meet from 6:30 pm-8:00 pm. The Youth Group will be collecting canned soup and monetary donations for the Souper Bowl of Caring on 2/3/13. They are also selling hoagies for the Annual Meeting on 1/27/13. Orders may be placed until 1/23/13. There will also be a PAC (Parent Advisory Counsel) meeting at 7pm on 1/27/13 to discuss the upcoming fundraisers and mission trips. 10 The Annual Meeting of the congregation and corporation of Collingswood Presbyterian Church, is called for the purpose of electing officers and nominating committee, approving the auditor s report, and any other business pertaining thereto, and is scheduled for Sunday, January 27, 2013 after worship services.

11 ADULT EDUCATION One Year Journey Through the Bible Sundays at 9AM in the lounge. We are working our way through the Bible together. You can also read interpretive material about the Journey in Pastor Kate's blog found on our church s web site at collingswoodpres.com. Help Support our Youth Group Mission Trips! This year, we are pleased that our youth will be going on TWO mission trips. Senior highs Andy Wilson, Angela Sperlunto, Lindsey Ball, and Natalie Sperlunto will be going to Purdue Indiana in July for the Presbyterian Church Youth Triennium. It is an amazing youth conference of over 4,000 Presbyterian youth and youth adults worshipping, learning, and having fun together! In July, the middle school kids will be going on their Mission trip to Massanetta Springs, Virginia for a week of service, learning, and fun! So, they will need your support! If you are interested in contributing, just put Youth Mission trips on your memo line of your check. We are also having fundraisers for the Annual Meeting, including a hoagie sale, Applebee s breakfast on March 9th, and a car wash in June. Each student needs to raise $250.00, so please help them out!! DEACONS UPDATE NEW VISIONS - In addition to providing meals, New Visions Homeless Day Shelter also has shower facilities. They are in need of new or gently used bath towels. Please leave towels under the food collection table in the back of the Church. MITTEN TREE- We are still taking donations of new hats, mittens, socks and coats for all ages. We will deliver them to Your Food Shelf in Camden, a mission of West Jersey Presbytery. FOOD PANTRY - Last year at this time, St. Paul s was providing food for 200 families. This year they have over 450 on the list. Please donate whatever you can. Cold cereal is still requested.

12 What is that Per Capita Envelope in my box of envelopes? Many years ago, the Presbyterian Church wanted to be sure that anyone could come to the meetings of the General Assembly (national church), Synod, and Presbytery. They didn t want to have an elitist church where only the wealthy landowners would meet to make decisions about the government of the church. So they established a small per member fee that each church would pay to the governing bodies so those meetings could pay for those gatherings. That was the beginning of per capita. Now per capita pays for legal costs, administrative costs of the national and regional offices, and still the meeting costs of those bodies. Because of per capita, our Presbyterian Church Mission pledge goes for mission work and not for administrative overhead, like many other organizations. Some people call it a tax, which it isn t. Nor is it a franchise fee. It is our church s commitment to make representation equal and administration costs low for mission ventures. We ask that each member (not per family per member) pay $38.75 in addition to your pledge. If you don t, then our church has to dip into the money pledged for our work here at CPC. Men s Breakfast The next men s breakfast will be at the Crystal Lake Diner on Saturday, January 26th, at 8:30 a.m. Please consider signing up to host Buzzy LeCluyse for lunch some Sunday. It s a great chance to get to know her! There is a sign-up sheet on the table in the narthex.
