We welcome you, ever-loving Spirit. Prelude Welcome and Announcements We welcome you in the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ! 4 Call to Worship Leader: We gather to worship God, whose creative imagination never fails: People: For the sake of God, we will search for the outcasts. Leader: We gather to praise our God, whose steadfast love never weakens: People: For the sake of Jesus, we will lift up all who have fallen. Leader: We gather to offer our best to God, who walks with us through eternity: People: For the sake of the Holy Spirit, we will walk with the weary. *Hymn: God of Grace and God of Glory GTG #307 *Prayer of Confession Leader: We walk through life, confident, strong, boasting of all our achievements. But God sees the hurts we have inflicted on others, the weariness in our bones from chasing after bad choices, and all the foolishness we trip over in the busyness of life. Let us come to God, for the One who listens to our faltering words is the One who gives us the Word filled with grace and mercy. Join me as we pray together, saying, People: We cannot hide from you, Everlasting God, even if we were to go from one edge of creation to the next. you speak to us of compassion, but the ways in which we treat others show we have not been listening. You explain your hopes to us, and we act as if we don't have a clue as to what is going on. We run as fast, and as far, from you as we can, and wonder why we have no energy to follow Jesus. Yet you search for us in all the deserted places we flee to, Never-wearied God, so you can take us by the hand to show us the way to life with you. You heal our broken hearts so we can offer them to others. You fill us with your strength so we can bind ourselves to Jesus, our Savior, following him to serve all of your children.

6 Questions of Ordination Do you trust in Jesus Christ your Savior, acknowledge him Lord of all and Head of the Church, and through him believe in one God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit? I do Do you accept the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments to be, by the Holy Spirit, the unique and authoritative witness to Jesus Christ in the Church universal, and God s Word to you? I do. Do you sincerely receive and adopt the essential tenets of the Reformed faith as expressed in the confessions of our church as authentic and reliable expositions of what Scripture leads us to believe and do, and will you be instructed and led by those confessions as you lead the people of God? I do and I will. Will you fulfill your ministry in obedience to Jesus Christ, under the authority of Scripture, and be continually guided by our confessions? I will. Will you be governed by our church s polity, and will you abide by its discipline? Will you be a friend among your colleagues in ministry, working with them, subject to the ordering of God s Word and Spirit? I will. Will you in your own life seek to follow the Lord Jesus Christ, love your neighbors, and work for the reconciliation of the world? I will. Do you promise to further the peace, unity, and purity of the church? I do.

7 Will you pray for and seek to serve the people with energy, intelligence, imagination, and love? I will. To Deacons: Will you be a faithful deacon, teaching charity, urging concern, and directing the people s help to the friendless and those in need? In your ministry will you try to show the love and justice of Jesus Christ? I will. To Elders: Will you be a faithful ruling elder, watching over the people, providing for their worship, nurture, and service? Will you share in government and discipline, serving in governing bodies of the church, and in your ministry will you try to show the love and justice of Jesus Christ? I will. 9 Sermon: Healed by Love The Rev. Dr. Katherine G. Killebrew WE RESPOND TO GOD S WORD *Biblical Affirmations of Faith and Health Leader: The fruit I produce brings great joy to God, my Father in Heaven. (John 15:8) People: God s power works best in my weakness. (2 Corinthians 12:9) Leader: Through the energy of Christ working powerfully in me, I teach others His truths. (Colossians 1:29) People: I have been saved, not by works, but grace, so that I might do good works. (Ephesians 2:9-10) Leader: My faith makes me whole in spirit, soul and body. (Mark 5:34) People: When I call out to God He answers me. He tells me things I wouldn t know otherwise. (Jeremiah 33:3) Leader: Because I place my hope in the Lord my strength is People: renewed.( Isaiah 40:31) As I follow Jesus..as I walk with him, I have peace. (Luke 24:36) Leader: Because I obey Jesus I remain in his love.(john 15:10) People: The cross of Christ is my power. (1 Corinthians 1:17) Leader: God is my refuge and strength. always ready to help me in times of trouble. (Psalm 46:1) Offering We hear the voice of God saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? May each of us reply, Here am I! Send me. When we offer our time and talents, God commissions us and grants us strength for the tasks we undertake. When we offer our treasure, God uses it in places where we cannot go and in causes beyond our reach. Let us give as God has blessed us.

12 Sunday School: Last week in Sunday School we watched the discussed prayer and how to make our own prayers and we did a craft about prayer. Please ask your children about what we discussed in Sunday School. Today in Sunday School we will really be finishing Prince of Egypt Movie and talking about Mosses. We will also make a craft to help us remember what we learned. Please ask your children about what we discussed in Sunday School We are in need of Sunday School Helpers. 13 2015 Flower Dedications February 22, March 1, are still available for flower dedications. Please sign up! If you would like to reserve a special date to dedicate the flowers which are used to decorate the Sanctuary in honor or memory of a loved one, use the book or contact Janis in the church office. The cost is $20. Please make checks payable to: Collingswood Presbyterian Church. The choir is rehearsing on Sundays now! To help make it easier for new people to join, we are rehearsing from 9-10 am before the service. You do not need to read music to be a part, only a love of singing Gods Word! In addition, a singing technique class will be run on Thursdays in the Bell room from 7:30 to 8:30. This class is open to anyone and you do not need to belong to the choir. Please consider being a part of our great music tradition at CPC! Woodworkers needed! We need to make screens for all of our Calvin Hall windows. We have a model and can give you materials. 14 Making Good Marriages Stronger You have done everything for the kids, spend all your energy on your job and home, cared for your neighbors, isn t it time to take care of you and your marriage? When we take relationships for granted, we look around and suddenly they are gone. Spend some time this Lent and make your relationship with your spouse stronger. What are the Biblical principles to sustain our relationships? Collingswood Presbyterian Church offers a four week course taught by Wanda Sevey, M. Div. LMST, Director of the New Jersey Council for Relationships and marriage therapist. 15 IHOC - Interfaith Homeless Outreach Council IHOC s flagship program is the Homeless Hospitality Network which serves up to twelve men in an innovative, intensive, thirty week program. The Homeless Hospitality Network runs from November until May, during which time homeless men, are housed with various member congregations. The congregations serve as hosts for two week periods, providing meals, a warm, secure place to sleep, and fellowship. During the first ten weeks, the men gain valuable lessons by attending life skills classes on money management, job seeking, and developing interpersonal relationships while also working with nonprofit organizations such as the Goodwill Industries. Following the required training, the men begin an intensive job search. Once they obtain a job, the men must deposit 80 percent of their salaries into an IHOC managed account to be held for them until they secure permanent housing. Throughout the entire program the men participate in intensive drug and alcohol counseling and are expected to attend a minimum of two Narcotics Anonymous and/or Alcoholics Anonymous meetings per week. In addition to all these rehabilitative programs the congregations also make a strong effort to engage the clients during their spare time and keep them active with various recreational activities. Our church will be hosting the 11 homeless men March 22nd through April 4th. With that said, we would like to invite anyone that is interested in helping during their stay to attend an informational meeting on Monday, 6:30 pm in the lounge. The committee will be looking for individual commitments to the many tasks that will need to be done. If you can't attend the meeting and would like to participate or have any questions, please contact Martha Jane via (mjcb44@aol.com) or by phone (856/ ). It is our prayer that you'll consider attending the meeting and commit to helping the Deacons in this worthwhile cause.

18 The origin of.valentine s Day really isn't romantic at all -- at least not in the traditional sense. Father Frank O'Gara of Whitefriars Street Church in Dublin, Ireland, tells the real story of the man behind the holiday -- St. Valentine. "He was a Roman Priest at a time when there was an emperor called Claudias who persecuted the church at that particular time," Father O'Gara explains. " He also had an edict that prohibited the marriage of young people. This was based on the hypothesis that unmarried soldiers fought better than married soldiers because married soldiers might be afraid of what might happen to them or their wives or families if they died." "The idea of encouraging them to marry within the Christian church was what Valentine was about. And he secretly married them because of the edict." Valentine was eventually caught, imprisoned and tortured for performing marriage ceremonies against command of Emperor Claudius the second. There are legends surrounding Valentine's actions while in prison. In the year 269 AD, Valentine was sentenced to a three part execution of a beating, stoning, and finally decapitation all because of his stand for Christian marriage. The story goes that the last words he wrote were in a note to Asterius' daughter. He inspired today's romantic missives by signing it, "from your Valentine."
