Some are important and some are just temptations to waste my gifts of time, care and energy. Help me to hear your voice to me this morning. Lord, give me perspective to know what is important to you and to me. Here I am Lord. Amen Prelude Welcome and Announcements We welcome you in the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ! 4 Call to Worship Leader: The Word of the Lord came, People: hope for all people cradled in his arms. Leader: the Word of the Lord comes, People: calling us out of our comfort zones, to go where grace is needed most. Leader: The Word of the Lord will come, People: gathering all the outsiders and insiders into one community of the kingdom. *Hymn Brethren, We Have Come To Worship GTG #396 Prayer of Confession Leader: Now is the appointed time. Pour out your hearts to God, bringing those harmful words you spoke, the chances to help you turned your backs on, and the foolish choices of your lives. Offer them to the One who longs to hear us, trusting that God will forgive us. People: Our comfortable lives convince us we do not need to follow Jesus, Steadfast God. Our work provides for our wants, so we have no need for your grace. Our friends are found through social media, so we do not need your community. Our share your grace with them. Forgive us for dragging our feet as Jesus' disciples, Compassionate God. May we get up from our comfort zones and step out in faith. May we go to all the uncomfortable places to bring hope. May we proclaim with our lips, but especially with our lives, that the kingdom of love is near, brought by Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.

7 RESPONSE TO THE WORD *Affirmation of Faith - Brief Statement of Faith PCUSA We trust in Jesus Christ, fully human, fully God. Jesus proclaimed the reign of God: preaching good news to the poor and release to the captives, teaching by word and deed and blessing the children, healing the sick and binding up the brokenhearted, eating with outcasts, forgiving sinners, and calling all to repent and believe the gospel. Unjustly condemned for blasphemy and sedition, Jesus was crucified, suffering the depths of human pain and giving his life for the sins of the world. God raised this Jesus from the dead, vindicating his sinless life, breaking the power of sin and evil, delivering us from death to life eternal. RESPONSE TO THE WORD Offering Our worship is complete when we bring all resources at our disposal to receive God s blessing and fulfill God s purposes. In joyous gratitude we bring more than money: we bring ourselves as an offering to God. 10 Thank You!!!! Thanks to everyone for helping in any way with the Presbytery Meeting. Everyone was impressed with our Church, the food and hospitality. A special thanks to the Deacons and Elders. Sunday School: Last week in Sunday School we learned about Letting our Light Shine and ways to let that happen. Today in Sunday School we will finally finish the Prince of Egypt Movie and discuss what happened. Please ask your children about what we discussed in Sunday School We are in need of Sunday School Helpers. Please see Mrs. Kolecki if you would like to help. Dates available are: 2/8, 2/15, 2/22, 2/29.. THIS MORNING THERE IS BREAKFAST CLUB. PLEASE Youth: LEAVE SERVICE WITH NOHA. There is Youth Group this week at 6:30pm -8pm. We will be discussing the 30 hour famine and also Ideas for youth Sunday. Bring your ideas. Please be at church next weekend to help collect canned goods for the Souper Bowl. We will also be collecting jeans for the Teens for Jeans campaign again this year. Please bring in any sized used, still wearable jeans. They will go to teens and others in homeless shelters. 12 What is that Per Capita Envelope in my box of envelopes? Many years ago, the Presbyterian Church wanted to be sure that anyone could come to the meetings of the General Assembly (national church), Synod, and Presbytery. They didn t want to have an elitist church where only the wealthy landowners would meet to make decisions about the government of the church. So they established a small per member fee that each church members would pay to the governing bodies to pay for those gatherings. That was the beginning of per capita. Now per capita pays for legal costs, administrative costs of the national and regional offices, and still the meeting costs of those bodies. Because of per capita, our Presbyterian Church Mission pledge goes for mission work and not for administrative overhead, like many other organizations. Some people call it a tax, which it isn t. Nor is it a franchise fee. It is our church s commitment to make representation equal and administration costs low for mission ventures. We ask that each member (not per family per member) pay $40.00 in addition to your pledge. If you don t, then another church member has to pay for you. Won t you please consider making this donation? Thanks! Your Stewardship and Finance Committee 2015 Flower Dedications February 1, 8, and 22 are still available for flower dedications. Please sign up! If you would like to reserve a special date to dedicate the flowers which are used to decorate the Sanctuary in honor or memory of a loved one, use the book or contact Janis in the church office. 14 A Memorial Service will be held on Monday January 26, 2015 for Joyce Varnum Green, daughter of member Dorothy Varnum, wife of Harry Green Sr. and mother of Harry and Barney Green. Visitation with the family will be in the Lounge from am and the service will be led by Rev. Killebrew at 11am. The choir is rehearsing on Sundays now! To help make it easier for new people to join, we are rehearsing from 9-10 am before the service. You do not need to read music to be a part, only a love of singing Gods Word! In addition, a singing technique class will be run on Thursdays in the Bell room from 7:30 to 8:30. This class is open to anyone and you do not need to belong to the choir. Please consider being a part of our great music tradition at CPC! Year End Financial Statements for tax purposes are in the alphabetical mail slots in the hall outside of the lounge. Please be sure to check your slot, you may also have some Christmas cards waiting!!
