4 Call to Worship Leader: With our lips and with our hearts: People: we bless God in every moment of our lives. Leader: With our ears and with our hearts: People: we will hear the cries of our sisters and brothers, in every painful moment, in every broken place. Anything and everything - our messes, the hurts we inflict on others, the way we stand around when we could be helping - God can renew, reshape, restore us. That is how much God loves us, this is why God calls to us to come and be healed. Join me as we pray to our God, saying, All: Gracious and holy God, we admit that it is easier to have pain-causing words on our lips, than praise for another. Our foolishness often keeps us from seeing the deep hurts and hunger of the suffering who are around us. We stand by the side of the road, afraid to step forward in faith, afraid to trust that you are with us, afraid to cry out for healing and hope. silence is kept. We are not people who repent in ashes and dust, but we do know we need your mercy, and ask that you forgive our faithlessness, our fears, our hurts. Healer of all people, we lift our hearts and souls to you, that through Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we might find your grace, discover your love, and serve your people in your name.

People: My soul makes its boast in the Lord; let the humble hear and be glad. Leader: O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together. People: I sought the Lord, and he answered me, and delivered me from all my fears. Leader: Look to him, and be radiant; so your * faces shall never be ashamed. Dr. Katherine Killebrew RESPONSE TO THE WORD *Affirmation of Faith - Apostle s Creed All: I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

8 Offering Growing people are giving people. Praying people have their horizons expanded, so they want to help less advantaged sisters and brothers. People who have been forgiven want to express their gratitude. We are growing, praying, forgiven people who believe it is possible for individuals and groups and nations to change for the better. Parents are invited to sign-up in the nursery to come in and do an activity such as a song, read a book, or other activity with the older nursery children. Please check the flower book in the Narthex and sign up to dedicate the flowers in the church to honor, or in memory of, a loved one. Flowers are needed for November 1, 22, & 29

11 Last week in Sunday School we learned about Samuel and how he listened to God's call. This week we will be reading Spookley the Square Pumpkin and doing some activities to go along with the story, we will be having a treat too!! We will also be going over our song that we will be singing in service on 11/1. Please plan on being here that week. We will also discuss Trick or Treating for Unicef. Appropriate Costumes are allowed. Come and have fun!! There is no seminarian this year so please see Mrs. Kolecki about signing up to help with Youth Group and to bring snack. 14 Session Highlights We reviewed the element of the Stewardship Campaign Gratitude and Grace. We will be having a Celebration lunch on November 1 after church. Christian Ed programs have begun for the fall season and the preschool is open and there are so many positive comments from parents. Confirmation class has begun, led by Pastor Kate. They will meet on Wednesday nights. (Schedule on church website) Property committee has completed the last of the items needed to be repaired for the state inspection. Thank you Gary Salmon, Rodney LaPan and Barry Longmire for your handyman work. Outreach - Pastor Kate conducted a new member s class this month and there are 4 people interested in joining at this time. The Personnel Committee is searching for a Sunday church caretaker/handyman. Are you receiving the Eblast announcements on Friday from the church?
