3 COLLINGSWOOD PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH SERVICE FOR THE LORD S DAY May 10, th Sunday of Easter ASSEMBLE IN GOD S NAME Silent Prayer On this day, O Lord, when we celebrate the gifts and giftedness of women, we thank you for your presence made known in the mothers, sisters, daughters, and friends that have nurtured us. Open my heart to be grateful for their gifts and their lives, which made ours possible, rich and blessed. I thank God for these women Amen. Prelude Welcome and Announcements We welcome you in the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ! Please sign the guest book in the narthex so we can send you a welcome packet. 4 Call to Worship Leader: It is by no means to be taken for granted that God awaits our worship. People: But in Jesus Christ we see him seeking us out. He comes to find us wherever we may be waiting. Leader: And so we know that God wants our presence, our attention and our response. ALL: May the words of our mouths, and the meditation of our hearts be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, our strength and our Redeemer. Amen. *Hymn - Sing Praise to God Who Reigns Above GTG #645 *Prayer of Confession O Great Shepherd, whose presence was discerned in the history of our spiritual forebears, we come to you, a fearful people who resist the Holy Spirit and shrink from underserved suffering. We want to trust your promise of abundant life. Speak to us that we may seek, above all else, to do what is pleasing to you. Amen. 6 RESPONSE TO THE WORD A Litany for Mother's Day by Peggy Emerson Leader: Mothers come in many different forms, and today we celebrate them all! All: Thank God for mothers! Leader: Everyone here is either a son or a daughter. All: Thank God for my mother! Leader: For those women who have joined God in Heaven and whom we miss dearly here on earth. All: Thank God for the mothers of the past. Leader: For every woman who is working day and night to raise her children right now. All: Thank God for the mothers of today. Leader: For all the women who are expecting, but aren't quite mothers yet! All: Thank God for the soon-to-be-mothers. Leader: For the women who took in others' children through adoption and foster care. All: Thank God for the mothers with hearts so big. Leader: For those women who have lost a child to death and must carry on. All: Thank God for the mothers who are so strong. Leader: For all the women who have desperately wanted to have children of their own, but chose instead to mother everyone else. All: Thank God for the mothers in spirit. Let our gifts be a genuine expression of love for sisters and brothers who need the help we can give. Sharing is a privilege and a blessing. Parents are invited to sign-up in the nursery to come in and do an activity such as a song, read a book, or other activity with the older nursery children.

10 Last week in Sunday School we learned about the yeast parable, and we made bread dough. This week we will be making Mother s Day crafts with the help of some dads. Please ask your children about what we discussed in Sunday School We are in need of Sunday School Helpers. Please see Mrs. Kolecki if you would like to help. 11 Youth Sunday, June 14th We will be honoring our graduates (high school and above) on Sunday, June 14. We would like to list their names in the bulletin, the school & degree of graduation. The cost is $ and will be installed by the church in the memorial garden. Inscriptions can be up to 4 lines with 14 spaces on each line. Please fill out a form found in the Narthex. Completed forms and checks, made payable to Collingswood Presbyterian Church - Memorial Garden, can be placed in the offering plate or sent to the church office.
