4 Call to Worship Leader: It is in this place of holiness that we can come with our fears, our doubts, all the questions of our hearts. Dr. Katherine G. Killebrew RESPONSE TO THE WORD *Affirmation of Faith - Brief Statement of faith We trust in Jesus Christ, Fully human, fully God. Jesus proclaimed the reign of God: preaching good news to the poor and release to the captives, teaching by word and deed and blessing the children, healing the sick, and binding up the brokenhearted, eating with outcasts, forgiving sinners, and calling all to repent and believe the gospel. Unjustly condemned for blasphemy and sedition, Jesus was crucified, suffering the depths of human pain and giving his life for the sins of the world. God raised Jesus from the dead, vindicating his sinless life, breaking the power of sin and evil, delivering us from death to life

8 Offering God of all humankind, send our generous gifts where we are unable to go. Send us to places where we would not venture to witness your love, except by the assurance of your presence with us. We rededicate all we have and all we are to your service. Amen. 12 Sunday School: Children in Prek-5 th grade will be leaving for Sunday School and can be picked up in Calvin Hall following service. This week, the children will be studying when Jesus traveled to the region of Tyre and how he helped a Gentile woman s daughter, teaching us that God s love is for EVERYONE! Last week, the children studied Mark 6:30-44, how Jesus fed many people with only 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish. **We also need helpers for the Easter Egg Hunt. Please see Gretchen Kolecki if you would like to help. **We will need WRAPPED Easter candies. Please leave them in/or outside Gretchen Kolecki s office. Youth: Congratulations to the Youth Group for Completing the 30 Hour Famine!! There IS NO youth group tonight, because the Youth Group participated in The 30 Hour Famine this past Friday and Saturday, where they occupied CPC and got to know themselves and what it feels like to really be hungry. The youth also participated in service projects here at the church and also at Urban Promise sites. The youth also participated in Bible Study, and learned about problems of the world outside Collingswood during their famine. Thank you to Dennis Kolecki and Buzzy who also participated in the 30hr. Famine. And a big Thank you to all those who helped make the event a success. The Youth are selling tickets for the Flap Jack Breakfast which is on Saturday, March 9, 2013, at the Audubon Applebee s. Tickets are $5 for kids and $8 for adults. Breakfast includes: pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, orange juice and coffee. Please see a member of the youth group or Gretchen Kolecki for tickets.

This year, we are pleased that our youth will be going on TWO mission trips. Senior highs Andy Wilson, Angela Sperlunto, Lindsey Ball, and Natalie Sperlunto will be going to Purdue Indiana in July for the Presbyterian Church Youth Triennium. It is an amazing youth conference of over 4,000 Presbyterian youth and youth adults worshipping, learning, and having fun together! In July, the middle school kids will be going on their Mission trip to Massanetta Springs, Virginia for a week of service, learning, and fun! So, they will need your support! If you are interested in contributing, just put Youth Mission trips on your memo line of your check. We are also having an Applebee s breakfast on March 9th and a car wash in June. Each student needs to raise $250.00, so please help them out!!

14 Feeding our Souls: Prayer, Supper, and Study Tuesdays: Feb Mar. 19 Join us for some quiet time in Calvin Hall Tuesday nights from 6:00 6:30pm for contemplative prayer. Taize music and guided written meditation will be available. Afterward, we will be having a lite soup supper in the lounge from 6:30 to 7:00pm. Sign up for supper in the back of the church or speak with Pastor Kate. Stay from 7:00 to 8:00 pm for the conversation about the intersection of contemporary music of the band U2 and our faith. The Gospel According to U2 In the life and work of the Band U2, author Greg Garrett argues that belief, communion, and social reign supreme. One can trace throughout their music a wrestling with belief and faith, thanks in large part, as Garrett repeatedly reminds us, to their experiences of having been burned by organized religion. Their music becomes a place where many people can turn for consolation and inspiration because, Garrett claims, they are asking the deeper questions that plague the wider society. Garrett shows us that U2 embodies the realization that belief in a higher power and community with fellow travelers on the journey is all pointless if we re not working to make the world a better place living a commitment to social justice. He cites their involvement with numerous social justice organizations, especially Bono s well-known commitment to Africa. In 2006, lead singer, Bono, traveled to Louisville, Kentucky and met with leaders of the Presbyterian Church at the National Offices to advocate for those suffering from AIDS, particularly in Africa. 15 DEACONS UPDATE NEW VISIONS - In addition to providing meals, New Visions Homeless Day Shelter also has shower facilities. They are in need of new or gently used bath towels. Please leave towels under the food collection table in the back of the Church. FELLOWSHIP TIME - The Deacons are asking for donations of cookies, brownies, veggies, cheese, crackers, pretzels, etc. for Fellowship Time. Homemade or store-bought - anything you can bring is appreciated! FOOD PANTRY - Last year at this time, St. Paul s was providing food for 200 families. This year they have over 450 on the list. Please donate whatever you can. Cold cereal is still requested. Community Service Project from the Deacons Corner Pop/soda tabs support the operations of Ronald McDonald Houses across the country. They receive between 35 and 70 per pound based on the market price of aluminum which helps pay for the house operations. There are approximately 763 tabs per pound. The tab of a beverage can is pure aluminum, unlike the rest of the can which contains an alloy of metals and paint. Pop/soda tabs are small and convenient to collect. Please save your tabs and bring them to church to help raise money for Ronald McDonald House in Camden. The collect box is in the lounge. Interfaith Homeless Outreach Council (IHOC) WALK-A-THON Meet and walk with Special Guest "Philly Phanatic" Today, Feb 24 from 1-4pm! Join the Interfaith Homeless Outreach Council (IHOC) for a mallwide Walk-a-Thon to benefit the nonprofit organization IHOC, whose primary mission is to provide shelter, support and rehabilitative services to homeless men and families. Participants and sponsors are from Camden County churches and synagogues, and the event is open to the public. The Walk-a-Thon will include a kick-off station in Macy's Court with a DJ, giveaways, and sponsorship information. For more information, call or go to Registration will be $5.00. 16 What is that Per Capita Envelope in my box of envelopes? Many years ago the Presbyterian Church wanted to be sure that anyone could come to the meetings of the General Assembly (national church), Synod and Presbytery. They didn t want to have an elitist church where only the wealthy landowners would meet to make decisions about the government of the church. So they established a small per member fee that each church would pay to the governing bodies so those meetings could pay for those gatherings. That was the beginning of per capita. Now per capita pays for legal costs, administrative costs of the national and regional offices and still the meeting costs of those bodies. Because of per capita our Presbyterian Church Mission pledge goes for mission work and not for administrative overhead, like many other organizations. Some people call it a tax- which it isn t, nor is it a franchise fee. It is our church s commitment to make representation equal and administration costs low for mission ventures. We ask that each member (not per family per member) pay $38.75 in addition to your pledge. If you don t, then our church has to dip into the money pledged for our work here at CPC. Won t you please consider making this donation? Thank you! Your Stewardship and Finance Committee CPC earned over $500 in 2012 by choosing greener energy from Viridian! Thanks to those of you who directed your electric and gas supplier to use Viridian 20% green energy. It s not too late to help. If you haven t changed yet, you can still make the switch and help CPC without any cost to yourself, help the environment by using green energy and save annually on your energy supply without reducing your use. That's right. It's easy. Simply direct your utility to buy its electricity supply from Viridian. Go to and watch the video to see how.
