Leader: Blessed be the Lord God who gathers us here in this place. People: From across the street, from halfway around the world, God brings us home to the heart of grace. But however fragmented we become, God longs to hold us together in grace and peace. Let us come with our prayers of confession and need to the One who prepares the way for our words. People: In these moments, Remembering God, we bring to you all the ways we have not lived as your people: we stand by watching while those in need struggle to survive; we cast our lots with those who worship power and success; we offer insults rather than words of grace to those who care for us; we scoff at your words which call us to a different lifestyle. 8 Leader: Thank you for the guidance of your Spirit in the many decisions required through long years of dedicated service. Thank you for the gift of music that stirs our hearts, People: instructs our minds, strengthens our spirits, and sets our bodies in motion. Leader: Thank you for old songs that keep us connected with saints and traditions from our past, People: and for new songs that create a legacy for future generations. Leader: Thank you for songs from our culture that express our heritage in familiar melodies and rhythms, People: and for songs from other cultures that open us to the variety of ways in which your people offer praise around the world. Leader: We thank you for the gifts of music and song through which creation has offered you praise and thanksgiving, confession and lament, prayers and petitions. Let us bring our tithes and offerings to extend the possibilities for reconciliation and peace. 13 Children should follow Mrs. Kolecki out after the Sharing of the Peace and can be picked up in the Calvin Hall after service. Last week we talked about the return of the Jewish exiles to Jerusalem, and how God does amazing things. This week we will be talking about the story of Christmas and making angels to get ready for Advent. Please ask the children what they learned. You may pick your children up in Calvin Hall after service. Thank you to those who have returned their UNICEF boxes. If you still have one please return it as soon as possible. We will be getting ready for the Christmas Pageant soon. Please try and have your children at Sunday school every Sunday in December. We only have 3 possible practices. We will also be having church decorating and pageant practice on Wed. Dec. 11, and dress rehearsal on Wed., Dec. 18 both at 6:30pm. We are also looking for parents to help with pageant practices. Please let Gretchen Kolecki, Director of Christian Education know if you are available to help. We will be breaking the classes down differently this next year. We will have a pre-reader group that will be Preschool Kindergarten, the name for that group will be the Sheep. Our next group will be 1 st and 2 nd grade that group will be know as the Shepherds, and oldest group for Sunday School will be 3 rd 5 th grade, will be known as the Disciples. 14 There is Youth Group this week for the Jr. High group from 6:30pm-8pm. The Senior High Youth Group will be returning from their weekend retreat in Johnsonburg later today. Thank you for your Support of the Youth Group. Up coming events: Breakfast Club: Is the third Sunday. (December 15) Students in 6, 7 & 8 th grades will come out of service during the second hymn and go to the Bell Room to have Bible study and snacks with Richard Aylor, the Seminary intern. Confirmation students are encouraged to attend. December 6, 7 & 8, 2013 is the Junior High Johnsonburg retreat. The cost is $99. $50 is due by NOW. Checks should be made out to CPC. The Youth Group will be having their Second Annual Cookie Tray Sale, with Cookie trays being delivered on 12/22/13. Please see order form in the bulletin. We are still in need of parents to sign up to bring in snack. Please sign up outside of Gretchen Kolecki, Director of Christian Ed. s office door. 15 Session Highlights Jennifer and Dave Sullenberger have been accepted into membership. Session approved the hiring of a second nursery worker. Reviewed new hymnals, Glory to God. They will be dedicated into use on November 24th. Ordination and installation service for new officers Karen Mazak and Mike Amato will also be held on November 24th We are excited for the upcoming commencement of our 2014 Stewardship campaign, Present Hope for Future Faith. We prayed for our families anticipating new births and for health for our ill members and friends. Christmas Eve services will be held December 24th at 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm. Flower Dedications - The flower book in the Narthex has been updated to include Make sure you get the date you want, reserve your date now! We still need flowers for December 8th. Please sign up using the book in the narthex or contact the church office.

16 Having hope means you are confident in the outcome and take steps to prepare for the journey toward it. Having hope means taking risks today that will open doors to the future fulfillment. The fact is that we will never get there if we don t do something here and now. We never will know what will come of our actions today, but still we make that investment for the future will we trust will come to be. This is why we make commitments personal, financial, spiritual and intellectual. We say that we will prepare today for a future as bright as our past- maybe even brighter. Can we make the same commitment for the work of our Lord through Collingswood church? There are not many places that can do all the things that the church does. Can you think of another place that cares and works to accept all people, challenges your mind and feeds your soul like our church? We re not perfect, but the wonder is that the church is the one place that sees imperfection and loves anyway.

17 Coffee House returns to CPC December 14 We had a great time with our friends over at Haddon Height Presby- terian in November but in December we come back to CPC for our monthly Coffee House and open Mic Night. Our Theme is Christmas and we are looking for musical acts, carolers to join in singing Christmas songs and donations of Christ- mas cookies! A special Creative Christmas Sweater Contest will be held and crafts for children to keep busy. ALL AGES ARE ENCOURAGED TO COME Time is 7pm-9pm held in Calvin Hall. See signup sheet in Narthex for music and food donations! 18 Mitten, Hat, Coat and Sock Tree Our congregation will be collecting hats, scarves, mittens and socks this Christmas to donate to help families in crisis and homeless in our county. Please help us warm as many people as possible by donating to this collection. Our Charlie Brown tree will be placed in the Narthex in a few weeks. Hang your gifts of gloves, hats, scarves and socks from its branches. The tree will stay up until January If you have gently used or new coats which you would like to donate, you can place them on the pew in the Narthex. Thank you. WANT TO CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS BY HELPING OTHERS???? We are needed to help Atlantic City churches and homes rebuild from Super Storm Sandy. Here is how you can help: Help out for a day (or two). The Presbytery of West Jersey is coordinating groups (or individuals) from churches who want to go down to AC for a day to help repair churches and homes. Any day is available if you want to go down -- just contact Pastor Kate and she can put you in touch with the Disaster Relief coordinator Wendy Frisby. Donate slightly used tools for building projects. Bring to church and leave in the narthex. If you have usable electric or gas power tools please put in the boiler room in the box labeled Hurricane Sandy. CPC work day - Saturday December 28- from 8am -4pm. All hands on deck!! CPC members and friends will be going down to AC as a church that day. All skills (or no skills ) are needed. Youth ages 16 and above are encouraged to help.

19 Christmas Poinsettias Poinsettias will decorate our sanctuary from December 22nd through December 29th. If you would like to order a plant in memory or in honor of a loved one, please fill in the slip below and place it along with your check in the offering plate or mail it to be received in the church office by December 13 th. Make your check payable to Collingswood Presbyterian Church Flowers. If you like, you may pick up your plant after our Christmas Eve service on December 24 th at 7:00 p.m. The Deacons will distribute any plants remaining to shut-ins. The cost is $15 each (7 inch pot 6+ blooms). 20 Christmas Cookie Trays The CPC Youth Group will be selling Cookie Trays as a fundraiser for their group. The money will go towards retreats and mission trips. The trays will come in 2 sizes: Small: $10 and Large: $15. The cookies will be assorted Christmas favorites.
