Enter into dialogue with us, so we may hear what you command. Put your words in our mouths and your praise in our daily lives. Add to our understanding and equip us for action, we pray. Amen. 3 Call to Worship Leader: On this day, which is holy, we gather, People: not alone, but as Christ's Body; as ones who would suffer together, we gather. Leader: On this day of wonder and hope, we gather, People: not in isolation, but in community; as those who would care for one another, we gather. Leader: On this day of prayer and praise, of silence and song, we gather, People: not with empty hands, or emptier hearts; as those baptized in grace's tears, we gather. *Hymn To God Be the Glory #485 PH *Call to Reconciliation Leader: We are baptized as individuals, yet are called to live and serve together. We know, and need to confess, how we have sought to live for ourselves, not reaching out to others, or seeing them as parts of Christ's Body. Please join me as we pray together, saying, Unison Prayer of Confession People: Rock of our salvation, we know the faults we try to hide from you and those around us. We have not cared for people in the same way. We do think some are more gifted, or better, or lovelier. We would much rather celebrate with someone, than to bear the suffering of another. We are really not that sure that prisoners should be set free, or the poor given hope, or the outcast a seat at the table. Redeemer of all people, forgive us. Anoint us with the power of your Spirit, so that our eyes might be opened to see how others truly live. Enlarge our hearts with the gentleness of your touch, so we might embrace the opportunities we will have to serve. Open our ears so we can listen to what Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, teaches us about your love and grace for our lives. Silence is kept.

5 WE RESPOND TO GOD S WORD *Affirmation of Faith Jesus Christ is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation; In him all things in heaven and on earth were created, things visible and invisible. All were created through him; all were created for him. He is before all else that is. In him everything continues in being. It is he who is head of the body, the church! He who is the beginning, the firstborn of the dead, so that he may be first in everything. It pleased God to make absolute fullness reside in him and, by means of him, to reconcile everything in his person, both on earth and in the heavens, making peace through the blood of his cross. Offering Choose for all time and worship God alone, Knowing the things of Earth are not your own Honor the one who offers grace and peace. Whose watchful care and love will never cease. GO IN GOD S NAME *Hymn: In Haiti, There is Anguish by Carolyn Winfrey Gillette (To the tune of #92 Beneath the Cross of Jesus ) In Haiti, there is anguish that seems too much to bear; A land so used to sorrow now knows even more despair. From city streets, the cries of grief rise up to hills above; In all the sorrow, pain and death, where are you, God of love? A woman sifts through rubble, a man has lost his home, A hungry, orphaned toddler sobs, for she is now alone. Where are you, Lord, when thousands die the rich, the poorest poor? 7 O God, you love your children; you hear each lifted prayer! May all who suffer in that land know you are present there. In moments of compassion shown, in simple acts of grace, May those in pain find healing balm, and know your love s embrace. Where are you in the anguish? Lord, may we hear anew That anywhere your world cries out, you re there and suffering, too. SKI TRIP TO BLUE MOUNTAIN Thursday Night, February 11 (Colls. schools are closed on the 12th!) All are welcome! Invite your family & Friends Meet at church at 3:00 pm. 13 The Annual Meeting of the congregation and corporation of Collingswood Presbyterian Church, is called for the purpose of electing officers and nominating committee, approving the auditor s report, and any other business pertaining thereto and is scheduled for Sunday, January 31, 2010 after worship services.

14 HOAGIE SALE!! Sunday, January 31 Proceeds will help offset the cost of the Summer Mission Trip for the Youth.
