2 PAGE 2 SUNDAY, AUGUST 6, 2017 Dear Friends in Christ, Faithfully Handing on Our Faith I hope your summer is going well. We re starting to gear up for a new religious education year which will begin after Labor Day. Registration is now open for the PK-5 th grade RE program, our 6 th grade EDGE program, and our 7 th - 8 th grade Con irmation Program. High school students who need to receive the sacrament of Con irmation can also be part of the Con irmation program. Deacon Jerry Ryndak oversees the PK - 5 th program along with his assistant Gail Brown. Preschool religious education takes place on Sunday mornings in the meeting rooms at the Crane Road Church during the 9:45 a.m. Mass. K - 5 th takes place on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. We have a need for a large number of catechists and aides for the program so please contact Deacon Jerry or Gail if you feel called to serve. We have always been blessed with catechists who faithfully and enthusiastically hand on the truths of our faith to our young people. Please prayerfully consider sharing your time and faith with our students. We will now be using the Alive in Christ catechetical series published by Our Sunday Visitor. The Alive in Christ series presents the teachings of our Catholic faith in an engaging, creative manner. The online resources available for teachers are outstanding. Our 6 th grade EDGE programs meets twice a month on Wednesdays in Dempsey Hall at Crane Road. This allows us to use a more interactive format for the lessons. We will be using an excellent new DVD series developed by Mark Hart. Mike Zak and his youth ministry team are also involved in the EDGE program. Alyce Poziombka oversees the EDGE and Con irmation programs along with her assistant Karen Delaney. Our Con irmation program is a two year program. Prep I is for 7 th graders and Prep II is for 8 th graders and high school students. We connect high school students with their age group. Our 8 th graders at the parish school are also in the Prep II program. Each Spring we will be con irming those 8 th graders and high school students who have completed Prep II. We have an excellent new program we will be using called Chosen. Many parishes use this program which presents our Catholic faith in a very relevant and engaging manner. The speakers on the DVDs are the best youth presenters in the country and the written materials are also excellent. The parent materials that go along with the student materials allow the parents to also be engaged in the program. The priests of the parish will be involved in all of our programs. We also have a need for many volunteers in our EDGE and Con irmation programs. May God bless the rest of your summer! In Christ, Msgr. Steve Memorial Mass for Deceased Children On Tuesday, August 8th at 7:00 p.m. in the Crane Road Church Please join us as we remember the lives of children who have gone before us in death. If you have lost a child through miscarriage, stillbirth, prematurity, illness, accident or any other way. We welcome you, your family and friends who have supported you to gather with us to remember these special children with this Memorial Mass. Msgr. Steve will be the presider. This Mass is for anyone who has lost a child recently or in the past. Your family is welcome to join us for light refreshments after Mass. Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary on Tuesday, August 15th A Holy Day of Obligation. We invite the parish community to participate in one of the Masses. The Book of James contains only five chapters, but it is loaded with pastoral wisdom that can help Christians put their faith into practice. A host has been given Vatican approval. Most people with celiac disease are able to consume these hosts. When receiving the low-gluten host, we ask that you receive from the priest; he will have a special pyx in his ciborium which will contain the special hosts. When you come up to the priest, simply say special host, and he will provide that for you. The FOX VALLEY CATHOLIC BIBLE STUDY for WOMEN Will be Starting on Thursday, September 14th Beginning with Mass at 9:15 a.m. in St. John Neumann Church We will meet Thursday mornings, from 9:15 to 11:00 AM at St. John Neumann Church in St. Charles. We will be studying The Gospel of Luke until December 7th. The study includes time for prayer and fellowship, a lecture and small group discussion. It is based on The New Collegeville Bible Commentary and Little Rock Scripture Study Guide. Please pre-register, especially if child care is needed. Adult fee for early registration is $30, plus $10 per child for entire session. Walk-in registration fee will be $35. There is no charge for infants who remain with their mother in a special group.
