2 Page 2 Sunday, Sunday, September April 19, 27, 2015 Dear Friends in Christ, Our Second Light of the World Retreat I m happy to announce that we have our 2 nd Light of the World retreat coming up at the end of October. I have a flyer on the next page that provides more information and registration information. Last March we had 50 parishioners participate in our first one. That is our capacity for our next one so please register as soon as possible if you would like to participate. Page 3 What is the purpose of a Light of the World retreat? The bottom line is that it is about deepening one s friendship with Jesus Christ. That sounds so basic, but many Catholics have a casual relationship with Jesus which leads to a tepid practice of the faith. When he is truly the Lord of our lives everything changes. All aspects of our lives reflect the gospel message, although there is always a need for growth and deepening. Through a series of talks, opportunities for discussion, the celebration of the sacraments, and quiet reflection time, the retreat affords the opportunity to grow closer to the Lord and our parish community. The weekend is open to men and women, married and single. It s for those new to the faith, and those who are veterans on the spiritual journey, and everyone in between. Who could benefit from a Light of the World Retreat? It s for you 1. If you are looking to grow your relationship with God and take a step deeper into your Catholic faith. 2. If you feel you re in a spiritual rut and aren t sure how to move forward. 3. If you re looking for a greater sense of community in the parish. 4. If you want to slow down and take a fresh look at your life through the lens of faith. This weekend we had a parishioner from our first retreat share some personal reflections and extend an invitation. I would highly recommend this retreat. You may have sensed that nudge from the Holy Spirit when our speaker was talking today. That s how we usually know that we re being called to something. Fear can sometimes hold us back, but if you felt that nudge, take a step in faith to connect with this great weekend. Fr. Deitz, Fr. Browning and I participate in the weekend through some talks and the sacraments. A nice benefit is you come away knowing many more of your fellow parishioners which helps people feel more connected and at home in the parish. Thanks for your consideration of this invitation! Parish Stewardship Report Once a year we publish our annual report in the parish bulletin to update the parish on our ministry life and our financial condition. You ll find the report on pages 4-5 of this week s bulletin. We have made some very positive improvements in our parish life and in the area of financial stewardship. I d like to thank everyone in the parish for your participation and involvement. In late August we had over 800 time and talent forms returned which is a great response. Our collections have been slowly rising and more people seem to be participating at Mass. I m very happy to report that our parish has done an outstanding job in responding to the Annual Diocesan Stewardship Appeal. Any amount we raise over our goal comes back to the parish which can use for our ministry needs. Let s continue to work together as a parish community, sharing our time, talent and resources for the glory of God and building up of the Church. May God bless you now and always! In Christ, Msgr. Steve

This is our second retreat at St. Patrick s. This parish retreat will help you deepen your relationship with God, with the Church, and help you find more meaning in life.
